Day #580

Day #580 Title: Emergence
Location: Hyde Hall, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: I saw another friend for a 40@40 event today (hat trick!). Ann is a very keen gardener, and having seen the excellent weather forecast, I phoned her this morning and we decided to take an impromptu visit to the RHS Gardens at Hyde Hall. We spent the morning happily pottering about, poking amongst the plants and enjoying a cream tea. Then we had a lovely summery lunch on her patio followed by lots of chat. Make hay while the sun shines!

Day #560 Title: Pink Ladies
Location: Shenfield
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: We went for a quick caching expedition late this afternoon, around a little bit of common land in Shenfield. These plants were being backlit by the sun, and I thought they looked rather nice. A little bit of Orton gave them an extra soft appearance.

Day #542Title: Vineyards In Bloom
Location: Great Baddow
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: Another scortching day today. I had to go into town for a couple of meetings and inbetween I went to the main Post Office to renew my car tax. However, I took one look at the massive queue and decided to go elsewhere. The only other Post Office nearby which sells tax discs is at The Vineyards shopping centre in Great Baddow, so I popped in there on the way home. The concourse has some rather impressive hanging baskets, which I thought made a colourful addition to the drab 1970’s architecture.

Day #491Title: In The Garden
Location: Wivenhoe
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: You will be pleased to know this was taken with my 24-105mm lens – yes, the one which got dropped on Saturday. I took it to a specialist camera repair centre today, who were able to remove the broken filter. The lens seems to have survived unscathed. In the afternoon, I wandered round my parents’ garden taking a few shots to check it out. Thankfully it’s just cost me the price of a new filter, and a couple of days’ angst. Phew.

Day #455Title: Tabletop Tulips
Location: Wivenhoe
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: Visiting my parents this evening, I thought I would photograph the seasonal tulips on the dinner table.

Day #439Title: Last Resting Place
Location: Hutton
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I enjoyed a 3-mile walk between Ingrave and Hutton this morning, and rather surprisingly, the sun came out for me. Just at the right time, it seems – this was the view as I approached All Saints, Hutton from the southern footpath.
