Day #728 Title: Ice Breaker
Location: Little Waltham Nature Reserve
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8
Notes: Our Chelmsford Flickr group took a walk in the Nature Reserve at Little Waltham this morning. There was plenty of frost about, and ice lingering in some of the pools and rivers. This stretch of ice held our attention for a while.

Day #721 Title: Dribble
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: The snow is slowly melting now – the stage which I hate – and since I was busy at home all day, I had to resort to another staple – a shot of the car. It’s been rather useful over the past 2 years: Day #49, Day #302, Day #347, Day #371 and Day #400! This time, I was really pleased to catch part of the snow mid-drip.

Day #720 Title: On The Cycle Path
Location: Central Park, Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Today I met up with local Flickr friends Rodney and Bev for a photowalk in Chelmsford. We started in Central Park and made our way (via a nice, warm coffee shop!) out to Baddow Meads and along the river. While we were in Central Park, this cyclist passed us by on the bike half of the path. I just managed to catch him as he rode by on the ice.

Day #719 Title: Icy Stalactites
Location: Chelmer Park
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Originally, I had intended to stay at home snug and warm after my exertions yesterday, and I have another long hike planned for tomorrow. But when I looked outside first thing, the sun was shining. I couldn’t resist the lure of a few more pictures, so took a cautious walk on the icy pavements to a nearby park. I’m glad I did – some more wonderful images were to be had, and there was barely a soul to be seen at 10am – all the other folks were probably at home snug and warm like I should have been. But there’s the old adage:

There’s no such thing as the wrong sort of weather, just the wrong sort of clothing.

And since I had gone out well prepared, I wasn’t actually very cold at all. Having said that, I was glad of the cuppa when I got home an hour later!

Day #715 Title: Fingers Of Frost
Location: Noak Bridge Nature Reserve, Basildon
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: We had a very heavy frost overnight, and in some places,  it hung around all day where the sun didn’t shine. I had to take the car for an MOT and service early this morning, and spent some time in Gloucester Park and Noak Bridge Nature Reserve in Basildon while I was waiting for it. These leaves were in a dim corner of the Nature Reserve and were still perfectly preserved with their icy coating.

Day #409Title: Encased In Ice
Location: Great Leighs
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I found this scene on my way home from a client meeting in Great Leighs this morning. The plants at the roadside were next to an enormous puddle, which was regularly splashed through by numerous vehicles. I presume each time they got splashed, the water would gradually freeze and ended up encasing the foliage. I then met Mel for a walk near Billericay for another of my 40@40 events, but the photos from the afternoon weren’t so interesting as this one.
