Title: Autumn Shadows
Location: Chelmer Park
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: It was a beautifully crisp autumn morning and the weather forecast promised cloud later on, so I made the effort to go out for a quick walk first thing this morning. I have photographed these trees before, but they seem to have gained a lot of foliage since June. I’m sure it won’t take them long to lose it again.

Title: A Chink Of Light
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Another day spent largely in front of the computer, despite the weather being very nice. I managed to skip out as the sun was going down and had a quick wander around Galleywood Common. I found the light in the woods streaking through the trees and onto this bracken.

Title: Brocket Park Dusk
Location: Brocket Hall, Herts
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After a successful afternoon’s geocaching trip near Biggleswade, Alistair and I found a nice pub for some food and then he suggested we try and find another couple of caches nearby. This took us to Brocket Park, where we found plenty of nice views, but sadly it was really too dark to have a good look for the boxes we were seeking. Ah well, there’s always another day! At least it was a good opportunity to walk off the rather fine puddings they serve at the Crooked Chimney.

Title: Tracks Through The Stubble
Location: High Ongar, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: We took another afternoon stroll to find some more caches around High Ongar today. Part of the route was on St. Peter’s Way which took us through rolling fields. The crops had been harvested, leaving only the stubble to cast long shadows across the field.

Title: Agapanthus Bank
Location: Montjuïc, Barcelona
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: The day dawned very warm, so I indulged in a swim before breakfast. Then I took a walk around the local area while Vanessa did some work. After a nice lunch at the apartment, we were back on Montjuïc again in the afernoon. It was exteremely warm again, and it threatened rain for a while (which would have been a relief!), so we had a trip in the cable car, followed by a walk around, dodging from shade to shade where possible. In the evening we went to an excellent blues gig with Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe at a concert hall on the hill. Another great day out.

Title: Sunset Over The Hills
Location: Montjuïc, Barcelona
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: I am spending a few days in Barcelona visiting friends as one of my 40@40 events. After arriving in time for a late lunch, we spent the hottest part of the day relaxing at the apartment and then set off for a picnic at the castle on Montjuïc to listen to some jazz and watch an open air film. The sunset view from the top was spectacular – although the film was a little less so – 2½ hours of confusing plot, shooting and treble-crossing – and at the end, everyone ended up dead. Still, it was a fun evening!

Title: Amongst The Birches
Location: Hathersage, Derbyshire
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: We enjoyed a rather nice lunch in Hathersage today. Afterwards, we decided to walk off the excesses of the café’s home made Steak Pie and look for some caches too. These trees were along a lovely path near the Surprise View – a great place along the road to Sheffield.
