Day #1077

Day #1077Title: Peaks And Troughs
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I’ve had the last Treasure Hunt theme – #41 Funny Shaped Fruite & Vegetables – on my mind for a while now, and was planning to find some mis-shapen veggies. So I went along to my local farm shop and was delighted to find some Romanesco Broccoli – not mis-shapen at all, but rather fantastically fractal. I have photographed this before on Day #324, but didn’t feel I did a particularly good job so thought I would have another go.

Day #1073Title: Follow A Christmas Star
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I’ll admit that I’m a coward, and this is the closest I’m going to get to a proper Camera Toss. It’s a tethered toss (I was still holding the camera wrist strap – I’m not daft!) looking at the Christmas lights in a neighbour’s front garden. I liked the single shape of a star which remained in this shot. It’s good enough for my Treasure Hunt Theme #57 – A Camera Toss.

Day #1067Title: London Hill – December
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: The final shot in my year-long visit to London Hill for Treasure Hunt Theme #12 – Scenic Location. And what could be more fitting than weather to echo the snows from January?

Day #1045Title: Hylands House
Location: Hylands Park, Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I’ve been meaning to photograph Hylands House for months, for the Treasure Hunt Theme #75 – Your Nearest Tourist Attraction, but there was always a good excuse or better shot elsewhere. It’s a mere 1.3 miles from my house, as the crow flies. Today, there was some brilliant sunshine promised – I just had to wait about half an hour for it to break through the clouds. I think I was well rewarded. The magnificent early Georgian building was built in 1730 and is open to the public on limited days, but the 574 acres of parkland are open throughout the year. It’s best avoided during August, however, when there are tens of thousands of music lovers who descend on the park for the annual V Festival. It also takes a few weeks to prepare the park beforehand, and clear it up again afterwards!

Day #1044Title: Memories Of Past Times
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I inherited this set of dominoes from my grandfather. I remember playing with them as a small child, when we went on family visits to Leicester, where my grandparents lived. They are in a rather tatty box, adorned with typical 1950′s graphics on a torn label on the front. I just looked up Glevum Games and apparently they made toys and games in Gloucester between 1894 and 1956, so that would certainly fit in with the styling. I thought they would make a good find for Treasure Hunt Theme #29 – Something Precious.

Day #1031Title: London Hill – October
Location: Galleywood
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Getting close to the end of the month again, so I went to London Hill for this month’s shot. I’m a bit disappointed that none of the leaves appear to be turning yet. This time I thought I would show it to you without any traffic. Anyway, another shot for Treasure Hunt Theme 10 – Scenic Location – October.
