Day #1071

Day #1071Title: No Weather For Spiders
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I’ve photographed the spider’s web on my bin before on Day #711. This morning, it was looking particularly lovely with tiny ice crystals all over the strands. Freezing fog is good for something…

Day #1013Title: Pink Tips
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I finally pulled my finger out and did some gardening today. The grass was in desperate need of a trim again. These pretty pink flowers are blooming on a succulent I have growing in one border – I’m afraid I have no idea what it’s called though.

Day #905 Title: Overlap
Location: Norsey Woods, Billericay
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: This afternoon I managed a quick walk in Norsey Woods on my way back from a meeting. It was cool under the shade of the trees, and quiet – a lovely place to escape the noise of the football, which seemed to come from every pub and restaurant on the High Street. I liked the way several leaves were overlapping and providing some shadow interest.

Day #903 Title: Resting On A Thistle
Location: Port Holme Meadow, Godmanchester
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I drove Alistair back to Huntingdon to pick up his car from the garage today, and after dropping him off I took a quick walk along the river Ouse at Godmanchester. This rather obliging butterfly was resting on a thistle. The 60mm macro lens was rather effective. I think it’s a Large Skipper. And it makes a good find for Treasure Hunt Theme #46 – Small Creature.

Day #900 Title: Azure Damselfly
Location: Sandon
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I originally planned a photo of a cake with candles for today (which Dai, Leo and Mr Duck seem to have hijacked). But instead I thought I would show you this lovely little Azure Damselfly which I photographed whilst on a geocaching walk with Alistair this afternoon. It was very windy, and the plants were flapping about in the breeze. This didn’t seem to bother the damselflies, but it made photographing them very difficult! I was quite pleased with this shot from the Lumix, which doesn’t really have a dedicated macro mode. I think it’s an Azure rather than Common Blue, having checked carefully on the BDS website.
