Day #1074

Day #1074Title: Fiery Sky
Location: Great Notley Country Park
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After a meeting in Braintree this afternoon, I was on my way home when I noticed there was a rather interesting sunset going on. So I stopped off at the Discovery Centre to make a few images. Unfortunately, I only got a couple of sunset shots, but was just a bit too late to make anything really interesting. By the time I climbed the hill to the Kestrel it was all but sunk below the horizon.

Day #960 Title: Western Skies
Location: Writtle
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: It was a pretty miserable day for most of the time, but by about 7pm the sun came out. Not being one to waste the opportunity of decent light, I hot-footed it to Writtle for a geocaching walk. This was the scene looking west towards the sunset.

Day #955 Title: Dangling The Dunlops
Location: Callerton, Newcastle
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: We ignored the weather forecast and went out on a caching mission this afternoon. It turned out lovely! Lots of sun, blue sky and fluffy clouds, and we never got wet once. This was a plane coming into land near the airport, on our way to find a cache called Still Dangling The Dunlops.

Day #934 Title: Chopper
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Another sky-shot for you. I noticed a lot of helicopter activity over the house today, and just as I was poking my lens out of the upstairs office window to photograph some interesting clouds, another one flew by, so I snapped it quick. You wouldn’t believe that a mere half hour later, the skies were leaden grey and pouring forth large quantities of water. Or perhaps you would – this is Britain, after all!

Day #931 Title: A Blot On The Landscape?
Location: Sandon
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I spent the day with my head down in the office and was rather uninspired as far as photography goes. But that’s one of the things I love about Project 365 – it forces you to get off your bum and go in search of pictures. Originally, I was going to head out to Paper Mill Lock this evening, but got half way there and noticed the light was about to go. So instead I took a walk near Sandon and found some amazing cloudscapes near the pylons. I also saw a Sun Dog for the first time (sadly, it didn’t make a great picture or you would have been seeing it here). So there you are – from uninspired to feeling rather pleased I’d made the effort to go out and find something interesting. I quite like pylons, but some people don’t. Perhaps a good find for Treasure Hunt Theme #73 – A Blot On The Landscape.

Day #928 Title: Gathering Clouds
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Had my head buried in the computer all day and didn’t get out until around 8:30pm. I nipped out for some Chinese takeaway and noticed there were some interesting clouds gathering on the horizon, so I took the camera too. On the way home, the clouds were even better – so I stopped off to take a few more shots. The food was taunting me with delicious smells, whilst going cold in the car. I think the clouds got even more impressive later on, but my tum was rumbling too hard to wait around any longer!
