Day #1006

Day #1006 Title: Please Water The Plants
Location: The Skiff, Brighton
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I travelled down to Brighton for the weekend to attend BarCampBrighton5, this time held at the co-working space called The Skiff. We had the use of several offices in the building, and I found these three sorry specimens gasping for a drink on a first-floor windowsil. I thought it was only me who could kill a cactus!

Day #995 Title: Mirrored Reality
Location: Finsbury, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I was up early and into London for the a11yldn conference all day, then a client meeting afterwards. There wasn’t much opportunity for making pictures, but this was a haven of tranquillity I found at lunch time, in the courtyard of City University.

Day #992 Title: Shifting Light
Location: PayPal Offices, Richmond, London
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Today was Day 1 of CharityHack 2010 at PayPal’s offices in Richmond. Lots of geeks were invited along to put together some great websites focussing on helping charities. As I was stuck in front of my computer for most of the day, I didn’t get out to take many pictures. This was a view out of one of the windows onto the street – where strange shapes and shadows shifted constantly throughout the day.

Day #942 Title: Geraniums At The Window
Location: Danbury
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I have driven by this cottage on my way through Danbury many times. I usually think “oh, I must stop and take a photo of it on the way home” and then promptly forget. Well, tonight, I remembered! I loved the bright vibrant Geraniums against the black and white of the cottage.

Day #924 Title: Flatford Window
Location: Flatford Mill
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: We set off home from our weekend in Suffolk and decided to stop off at Flatford on the way past to look at the river and Willy Lott’s Cottage – in the heart of Constable Country. Unfortunately, the weather was less than kind to us (in a torrential sort of way) and so we ended up spending some time in the tea shop and museum sheltering from the downpour. These Geraniums were in a pot on the windowsill inside the Constable Museum. They made a good find for Treasure Hunt Theme #34: Through The Window.

Day #921 Title: Country Retreat
Location: Kelsale, Suffolk
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: My friend Alan is emigrating to New Zealand in August, and is due to get married to his Kiwi finacée over there in October. Rather than having a conventional “Stag” do, he decided to invite 8 of his close friends (boys and girls) on a weekend away in rural Suffolk. We stayed in a wonderful house which had this huge lounge on the first floor, overlooking the countryside. It had a really warm and cosy feel to it, despite its size.
