Day #1459

Day #1459 Title: I See Stars
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I had a new tripod for Christmas, and today was the firs time I had an opportunity to play with it properly. I love the colours of the decorations on my Christmas tree, and so decided to take some long exposure shots of it. These stars are part of the tinsel garland which is wrapped around it.

Day #1263 Title: Sleep Tight
Location: Brighton
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: It was a horribly wet miserable day. I travelled down to Brighton this evening to be in town for the Ampersand Typography conference first thing tomorrow morning. It was getting late and I realised I hadn’t taken a picture. This embroidery on the hotel bed linen will have to do.

Day #1217 Title: Buttercup Bokeh
Location: Hyde Hall Gardens
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 70-200 EF f/4 L USM
Notes: This morning I enjoyed an outing to RHS Hyde Hall gardens with some folks from the GNPC. It wasn’t easy to take pictures as it was VERY windy, which isn’t exactly conducive to macro flower shots. Despite all the wonderful cultivated varieties on show, my favourite image from the day was this view of the left-to-go-wild buttercup meadow.

Day #1201 Title: Oblivion
Location: Cromwell, Nottinghamshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: After a full day at work, the plan was to jump on a train to Leeds and go to stay with friends for the weekend. You know how the best laid plans go awry though? Signal failure near Retford turned a bearable 2.5-hour journey into a 6-hour horror. I was due to get to Leeds at around 11pm and eventually arrived at 3.30am. This one is for Alistair, who reminded me (during a long-distance text conversation) to take an image today. It was 11:40pm by then. And also because he was good enough to stay awake and let me into our friends’ flat long after everyone else had retired to bed. What a star! And what a start to the weekend…
