Day #1460

Day #1460 Title: Don’t Rock The Boat
Location: Heybridge Basin
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I enjoyed a quick impromptu photowalk with a local Flickr friend this morning. We went to Heybridge Basin and on my way back to where I parked, I came across a group of canoeists paddling along the river. No sooner had I turned my back on then than there was much laughing and it turned out one of their number had managed to capsize his boat. They were all giggling madly as they righted the vessel and he crawled back in! Must have been cold, but apparently no harm done. See more shots here.

Day #1458 Title: Peaceful Moorings – December
Location: Sandford Mill Lock, Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 IOS
Notes: With the month rapidly dwindling, I decided to head to Sandford Mill Lock for my final scenic location shot of the year. The light was rather flat, and I had resigned myself to December’s shot not being particularly interesting when along came a couple of canoes to add some foreground detail. So there it is, Treasure Hunt Theme #12 – Scenic Location – December

Day #1428 Title: Peaceful Moorings – November
Location: Sandford Mill Lock, Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Almost out of month, I finally managed to get back to Sandford Mill Lock for my scenic location shot. We seem to have gone directly from summer to winter with the trees compared to October’s shot. The light wasn’t great, but I won’t be able to get back there before the month is done, so this will have to do.

Day #1387 Title: Peaceful Moorings – October
Location: Sandford Mill Lock, Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: A quick walk along the canal today to take my shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #10 – Scenic Location – October. I was a bit disappointed that the trees have still not really turned for autumn here, so decided a mono treatment would work quite nicely.

Day #1367 Title: Peaceful Moorings – September
Location: Sandford Mill Lock, Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: It was a very sunny day for the most part, but when I went to go out, the weather had turned rather misty. Still, a different look for my scenic location in September – the leave are beginning to turn. Treasure Hunt Theme #09 – Scenic Location – September.

Day #1337 Title: Peaceful Moorings – August
Location: Sandford Mill Lock, Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I just remembered that I needed to take my monthly scenic shot before the end of the month. So I made a quick trip to Sandford Mill Lock and found this rather cloudy scene.

Day #1315 Title: The View From Above
Location: Central Leeds
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Another day spent at Leeds Hack2 in the city centre. The Mint Hotel where the event was held has a viewing balcony on the 13th floor. A few of us decided to nip up there for some pictures this morning – only to find the heavens open and a howling gale blowing as soon as we stepped out. This was a very quick picture taken before it got too cold and wet to stay up there!
