Day #1392 Title: Attention To Detail
Location: Crossness Pumping Station, Belvedere, Kent
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: The Chelmsford Photowalk Flickr group spent a very enjoyable afternoon at the Crossness Pumping Station open day today. It is a fine example of high Victorian engineering, which had fallen into disrepair for 50 years but is slowly being brought back to life. The building houses four of the largest beam engines in the world. One has been restored to fully working order, whilst the other three are in the process of being  renovated by dedicated volunteers. There were loads of photo opportunities, despite there being quite a few visitors there for the last open day of 2011. This shot shows the meticulously restored iron railings around the central octagon. An obliging shaft of sunlight made the details really stand out.

Day #1326 Title: Points Bridge
Location: Wylam, Northumberland
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: Despite threatening weather all afternoon, we managed to stay dry during our geocaching walk around the Wylam Valley. Points Bridge is on the course of an old railway line and crosses the Tyne upstream of the village. The track is now a cycle way, but the old Victorian bridge is still a vital link across the water. A good find for Treasure Hunt Theme #47 – Somewhere New To You.

Day #1322 Title: Bridge Illuminations
Location: Newcastle
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After the second day of BarCamp NorthEast4, Alistair and I went for a dusk walk along the Quayside to have some dinner and take some photos. I liked this view towards the Swing, High Level and Metro bridges across the Tyne, and the attractive reflections in the water. There had been a Bridges Festival on during the weekend, and the Swing Bridge had some unusual illuminations still in place.

Day #1145Title: Victorian Details
Location: Discovery Museum, Newcastle
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: I spent the day at CultureGridHack which was held in the Great Hall of the Discovery Museum in Newcastle. This marvellous old Victorian pile has rather ornately decorated struts holding up the ceiling. I rather liked this sweeping view up to the top.
