Day #1827 Title: New Year Nerd
Location: Sussex
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 40mm EF f/2.8 STM

Day #1821 Title: Face Down December (Festive Tree Edition)
Location: Margate, Kent
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: A little bit of Face Down silliness to toast in the season! Merry Christmas! And of course, it’s the perfect shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #12 – Once A Month – December.

Day #1793 Title: Face Down November (Inclement Weather Edition)
Location: Heybridge Basin
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: This wasn’t the location I originally had in mind for this month’s Face Down Tuesday. Initially I was going to shoot it at Paper Mill Lock which is about 5 miles from home, but I tried driving there today only to find the road closed due to severe flooding. No chance of getting anywhere near. So I journeyed further down the canal – all 13 miles – to the outlet at Heybridge Basin where it empties into the Blackwater Estuary via a tidal lock. Hardly a soul about today – and not surprising – due to the persistent drizzle. I was lucky to get this in the bag and drive home again before the deluge started in earnest once more.

Day #1748 Title: Walls Have Eyes
Location: Holborn
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: I spent a very enjoyable morning in London with a couple of friends giving some photo coaching and doing a practical shoot near the British Museum. We also had a tasty lunch nearby and then said our goodbyes. They seemed to get a lot out of it and went away buzzing with enthusiasm, which was a great feeling. The afternoon light was too good to waste so I decided to take a walk back from Holborn towards Liverpool Street, finding some geocaches on the way. I passed this arresting mural in High Holborn and couldn’t resist waiting for a passer-by to walk into the frame.

Day #1744 Title: Face Down October (Domestic Goddess Edition)
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: I have visitors coming later in the week, and I still haven’t finished cleaning the house. So of course, I decided to combine my chores with my picture for today – perfect for another Face Down Tuesday! And Treasure Hunt Theme #10 – Once A Month – October.

Day #1743 Title: Hello, Stranger
Location: At home
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: Fooling about with a few props in the studio this morning, whilst trying to avoid cleaning the house. I can imagine this is Mary-Jo from the Deep South, who enjoys rodeo and housework. Who am I kidding? Nobody at all – but I thought it would be a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #51 – An Alter Ego!

Day #1737 Title: Mobile Comms
Location: Littley Green, Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm f/1.7
Notes: We headed north of Chelmsford for our geocaching adventure today, and ended up doing a 6-mile walk near Littley Green, including a rather civilised stop at the pub for lunch! We passed this old phone box, its phone long ripped out by BT, and it had a notice on it saying it was now owned by the council. Heaven knows what they are going to do with it – preserved it somehow hopefully. But we thought Alistair was rather out of place inside, with his mobile. How times have changed in the last 20-odd years – we all used to rely on these iconic red boxes when we needed to get in touch whilst out and about. I thought this would make a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #53 – Out Of Place.
