Day #1712 Title: The Torii Gates Of Shōren-ji
Location: Takayama, Japan
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: Another baking hot, humid day. We started off by wandering through the morning markets along the banks of the river. Then we were taken to the Hida No Sato folk village, which has many preserved old buildings and demonstrates traditional ways of life. I then enjoyed a quick snack lunch whilst visiting the Hida Kokubunji Pagoda. After cooling down in some of the lovely air-conditioned shops in town, I broke into a sweat once more by climbing the hill to Shōren-ji temple, on the slopes of Shiroyama Park. The midgies were biting, but it was worth it for this view – and the cup of green frothy tea I enjoyed afterwards at a tiny local tea house on the way back down again. Read more about my stay.
