Day #2369Title: Bute-Iful Sky
Location: Rothesay Pier, Isle of Bute, Scotland
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Notes: I was able to get out and about today to visit the two Scottish piers on my list – Rothesay was the first, involving a train journey from Glasgow and a 40-minute ferry crossing to the Isle of Bute. I spent a lovely couple of hours wandering about the town before it was time for the return ferry trip to the mainland and a detour (another train and ferry trip) to Dunoon, before finally getting back to Glasgow this evening. The Scottish weather was kind to me in Rothesay, giving this impressive swathe of clouds above the pier. It returned to type by the time I got to Dunoon, where it was rather dreich.

There are only two piers on my list in Scotland – both easily visited as a half-day Rail & Sail trip from Glasgow. My first place today was Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, and the second was Dunoon, where I found this dilapidated old gatehouse in the grounds of Dunoon Castle. Perfect for the current 52 Weeks Theme, Dilapidation/Ruins/Seen Better Days (I’m referring to the building, not me!) Today’s PAD: Day #2369 […]
