Day #3471Title: Ripples In The River
Location: Hatfield Peverel, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Alistair and I met up with some geocaching friends today to tackle some more demanding hides. One was across this river – I’d already found it so I was able to sit back and watch and keep my feet dry! It was while the others were fooling about locating the box that I noticed these attractive reflection and refraction patterns.

Day #3467Title: High Key In High Easter
Location: High Easter, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: What a contrast to last week – when it was too hot to go out of the house! Overnight downpours gave way to persistent drizzle for most of the day. So the sky was rather bald anyway when I made this image of a rusty old sign in High Easter, while I was out doing a spot of geocaching. A bit of Photoshop fiddling enhanced it to give a high key image.

Day #3462Title: The Rolling Hills
Location: South Green, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: After my long walk yesterday, I just wanted a local potter of a couple of miles today. I teamed up with geocaching friends Anne and Ray and we went for a wander in Mill Meadows, Billericay. But first, there was a cache to be found close to where Zeppelin L32 was shot down in 1916. A new memorial has recently been erected to mark the 100th Anniversary of the crash. It’s a quiet field now, but must have been very different on that night.

Day #3461Title: 7500 Finds
Location: Toot Hill, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: There used to be a massive geocaching series set along all 81 miles of The Essex Way. I had covered about half of it, in various small chunks, before they all got archived overnight. But sections have gradually been reinstated by new owners. So today I went to pick up a stretch of 18 caches between Greenstead Church and Toot Hill. Signal The Frog® is the official Geocaching mascot, and can always be relied upon to accompany me on caching expeditions when other friends aren’t available! Here he is with my 7500th find, the last one for today.

Day #3455Title: Dublin Docklands
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: We had another good wander around Dublin before heading to the airport late this afternoon. This is Samuel Beckett Bridge, which swings open to allow traffic through, in the heart of the regenerated Docklands. I liked the way it looked like an Irish harp. And I hadn’t realised until I wrote up today’s blog, but it was designed by one of my favourite architects, Santiago Calatrava. Not surprised!

Day #3454Title: Drumleck Beach Duo
Location: Howth, Co. Dublin, Ireland
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: We had a tiring but fun day walking the cliff path around Howth today. Here’s a picture of me and Alistair down on the beach at Drumleck. We even got a bit sunburnt! Not what I was expecting from Ireland. A great shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #59 – Smile.

Day #3453Title: Back Street Bike
Location: Bray, Co. Wicklow, Ireland
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: We had a great day pottering around Bray and then climbing Bray Head to find Europe’s oldest geocache. I spotted this bike as we were on our way to get some breakfast in town.
