Day #3455

Day #3455Title: Dublin Docklands
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: We had another good wander around Dublin before heading to the airport late this afternoon. This is Samuel Beckett Bridge, which swings open to allow traffic through, in the heart of the regenerated Docklands. I liked the way it looked like an Irish harp. And I hadn’t realised until I wrote up today’s blog, but it was designed by one of my favourite architects, Santiago Calatrava. Not surprised!

Day #3421Title: The Big Red Finial
Location: Newcastle, Tyne & Wear
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Another walk today, this time down by the Tyne in the centre of Newcastle. This is a cast iron finial on the fine Victorian Swing Bridge, with the High Level Bridge behind.

Day #3403Title: Non-Slip
Location: Ingatestone, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: I liked the light glancing off the yellow treads on the newly-refurbished bridge at Ingatestone Station this morning. Not a lot of time the rest of the day for pictures, unfortunately, it was another busy day.

Day #3365Title: When The Sun Shines
Location: West Ham Station, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Another day in London for a conference, and I was changing trains through West Ham station to catch the Jubilee Line towards Stratford. It was an unfamiliar route, thanks to me trying to avoid a rail replacement bus service on my usual line. As I was crossing the pedestrian footbridge, the sun came out. I just had to stop to make a picture. I missed the first train, but another one came along quickly so it was worth the delay, and I wasn’t late for the start of the sessions.

Day #3347Title: Lichen Archipelago
Location: Little Baddow, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: This morning promised to be sunnier than the afternoon, so I headed out for a quick walk around the footpaths near Sandford Mill Lock to find a geocache. It was at a metal bridge over the Canal, which is wonderfully crusty – lots of peeling paint layers and plenty of lichen and rust. I homed in on a small area to get the best textures.

Day #3340Title: Non-Slip
Location: Stebbing, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: I was out with friends walking a circuit around the village of Stebbing today. We found this little bridge with curious non-slip stripes across the planks – not an arrangement I’ve seen before!
