Day #3423Title: The Long Ride Home
Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: After behaving itself perfectly on the journey home from Newcastle yesterday, I went to start the car this morning and it didn’t want to know. Argh! Why does it always happen when you want to go somewhere urgently? So I ended up getting the bus to the station and train into London and out again to Elstree – taking around two hours each way, rather than the 50-odd minutes it would have been to drive, and arriving late. This was made on the bus in the evening, heading back home after a day which would have been far less stressful had things gone differently. No Photoshop here, just a trick of reflections where I was sitting at the front.

Day #3375Title: Mirror On The World
Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I walked into Chelmsford today to run a few errands. The steely grey sky was a good foil for the aluminium skin on the Sally Army Citadel and tree reflected in the window along Parkway. And then a grey car came along too! Perfect.

Day #3374Title: Matching Reflection
Location: Matching, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: It was a lovely afternoon so I set off to Matching to have a walk. The farmhouse here looked splendid reflected in the little pond in the front garden.

Day #3313Title: Routemaster Reflections
Location: Wivenhoe Park, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Lensbaby Composer Pro / Sweet 35mm f/2.5
Notes: I was in Colchester again today to give a couple of training sessions for clients this afternoon and evening. But I had a bit of time this morning for a very cold and foggy walk around Wivenhoe Park, the campus for the University of Essex. Dad worked there for many years before he retired, and I used to know it well, but I haven’t visited and had a good walk around for at least 10 years. It has changed quite a lot since then, with new buildings springing up all over the place. This is a reflection of the new Students’ Centre in one of the big lakes. I liked the way it was cantilevered to apparently float above the water. I was also very surprised to see the old Routemaster bus in the distance – it was a long way from home! But “home” is now apparently here as a static snack bar selling bacon butties to passing students. It provided a welcome splash of colour in an otherwise fairly limited palette.

Day #3291Title: Life In A Puddle
Location: Great Baddow, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Lensbaby Composer Pro / Double Glass Optic 50 mm f/2
Notes: Alistair and I took a walk around Great Baddow this afternoon, looking for a few geocaches. I spotted these drowning leaves in a puddle and thought it would be a good way to kick off my treasure hunting this year, for Treasure Hunt Theme #53 – Puddles.
