Day #3384

Day #3384Title: La Maison De Dieu!
Location: Audinghen, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: On Tuesday, the day after my new passport arrived, I made a snap decision to have a little trip to France and Belgium to do some geocaching, as I’d never visited either country since starting to look for tupperware. So I booked a very last minute trip and found myself on the Le Shuttle today, finally making it onto French soil around tea time (there were a few things I needed to do before leaving home, and then there was a tedious hour and a half delay in the crossing). I headed along the French coast towards Cap Gris Nez and found myself at this remarkable little church, Eglise Saint Pierre d’Audinghen. It was rebuilt in 1960 after being destroyed by allied bombing during World War II. The first striking thing is its huge concrete open bell tower in the shape of a lyre – which is what initially made me stop to take a look around. The porch is illuminated by this wonderful stained glass verse from Matthew VII. The sun was catching the letters at just the right angle to throw some fantastic coloured shadows on the paving. There was even a cache by the gate! Perfect. I knew it had to be picture of the day.

Day #3383Title: Shadow Play – April
Location: Westminster, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: The past few days have been rather dull, so no chance of getting my monthly shadows project. But this morning the sun was out and giving me plenty of opportunity as I walked the pavement in Westminster, past the Houses of Parliament. Job done! Treasure Hunt Theme #4 – April Monthly Project.

Day #3360Title: Yo!
Location: Maldon , Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario Power OIS
Notes: Alistair and I had a great day in Maldon today, wandering around on a geocaching and photowalk with friends Alison and Ian. The sun shone and it was quite warm at times. I photographed the chains and covers on the Thames barge Sailorman again. I took a similar shot on Day #1000 when I was there with other friends – but it was pelting with rain on that occasion, so quite a contrast today. It looks like it’s had a decent lick of paint since, too.

Day #3352Title: Shadow Play – March
Location: East Dulwich, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: I went to meet friends for lunch in East Dulwich today. I was fully expecting to get wet, given the weather forecast. But I managed to dodge the heavy rain. Just as I arrived the sun even came out – so I was able to make my monthly Shadow Play shot before heading for the restaurant. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #3 – March Monthly Project.

Day #3342Title: There’s Always A Lamp
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Lots more jobs to do today, confined to home. With Storm Doris about, I’m glad I didn’t have to go out anywhere. It got to later this evening and I still hadn’t made a picture, so I turned to my new lamp – There’s Always A Lamp. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #42 – Lamplight.

Day #3339Title: Shadow Play – February
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: I have been waiting for some sunshine recently, to make my monthly Shadow Play shot. I caught sight of the refractions and shadows made by my favourite wibbly glass dish this afternoon. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #2 – February Monthly Project.

Day #3332Title: The Cat Sat On The Mat
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: I was contemplating where to go for a picture today, as the sun was out at last. As I was getting ready, I went into the bedroom to find my watch and what did I spy but my blue glass cat, refracting the sunshine perfectly. I quickly grabbed the infinity curve background and made the picture on the spot. A little bit different from my last picture of puss, back on Day #315.
