Day #3476

Day #3476Title: Don’t Get Your Feet Wet
Location: Bunrham-on-Crouch, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Today’s geocaching outing with Alistair was to walk the sea wall between Althorne and Burnham-on-Crouch. This poor little drowned tree was up to its knees in water, trapped by the banks all around. I didn’t look very alive. But it added a point of interest in the scene.

Day #3474Title: Tree Adventures
Location: Terling, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Alistair and I met up with geocaching friends Rob and Sue today for some tree climbing adventures. Some of them Alistair was able to scale without any equipment, but this one needed my 4m collapsible ladder to reach the prize. Much fun and giggles all round.

Location: North End, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Another metaphor for the current political situation? Or just a straggly tree…

Day #3391Title: Iron-Clad Tree
Location: Noak Hill, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: This curious iron-clad tree was one I spotted during a little bike ride to find some geocaches today. I’m not sure if the metalwork was supposed to keep the tree together, it looked rather odd but has clearly been like that for many years.

Day #3375Title: Mirror On The World
Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I walked into Chelmsford today to run a few errands. The steely grey sky was a good foil for the aluminium skin on the Sally Army Citadel and tree reflected in the window along Parkway. And then a grey car came along too! Perfect.

Day #3363Title: Brûlée
Location: Foxton, Cambridgeshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I had to go to Cambridgeshire today to run an errand and took the opportunity to take a walk to find some more geocaches around the village of Foxton. At one point there was a burned tree trunk by the side of the path, and the charcoal-like bark caught my attention.

Day #3356Title: Bark Beetle Galleries
Location: High Roding, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Alistair and I had a great walk around the footpaths of High Roding today, looking for a few caches. One was the wrong side of a ditch filled with water, so we had to make an impromptu bridge from a sturdy branch which we found nearby. It had these enigmatic patterns in the bark – which I have since learned are called galleries and made by Bark Beetles. To my eye, they look like weird alien art!
