Day #3364

Day #3364Title: Comings And Goings
Location: Stratford, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I spent the day in London at a conference and was making my way back via Stratford station. Thanks to one closed staircase and some bad signage, I just missed a train and had to wait another half hour for the next one. So I was rather bored and went looking for photo opportunities. These yellow stairs contrasted well with the Blue Hour going on in the background.

Notes: Time for another session waving LED lights around. I liked the patterns here.

Day #3348Title: Don’t Spill A Drop
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH / Yongnuo YN 560 Speedlite
Notes: I had a frustrating session in the studio today trying to photograph splashes. I was using a different liquid mixture to before, which should have provided a bigger splash, but the kit just wasn’t working as I expected and all I was getting were pathetic little collisions (if anything). Then I started feeling a bit unwell, so gave up. This will have to do – pleasant enough, but not what I was trying to achieve. I will have to have another go in due course.

Day #3347Title: Lichen Archipelago
Location: Little Baddow, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: This morning promised to be sunnier than the afternoon, so I headed out for a quick walk around the footpaths near Sandford Mill Lock to find a geocache. It was at a metal bridge over the Canal, which is wonderfully crusty – lots of peeling paint layers and plenty of lichen and rust. I homed in on a small area to get the best textures.

Day #3329Title: Atomic
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 7-14mm f/4 Lumix G Vario
Notes: It’s ages since I made any physiograms, so I thought it was about time I had another go today, especially as the weather was awful and I didn’t fancy venturing out earlier in the day. This was a 256 second exposure, covering the lens and changing the gels on the torch to give four different colours. It’s straight out of camera. The GX8 takes a while to do its noise-reduction processing after you have made a very long exposure, but it’s worth the wait – can’t see any noise in the blacks at all! It’s interesting to see where the orbits take a little wobble and get knocked out of true – I think there was a slight snag on the dangly fixing, but I quite like the effect anyway. I thought it would make a great shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #65 – Swing.
