Pienza Hillside

Taken by Caz on Saturday, 23rd June 2001

Pienza Hillside Title: Pienza Hillside
Location: Pienza, Tuscany
Camera: Canon EOS 50E / Canon 100-300mm USM
Film: Kodakchrome 200
Notes: I spent a blisteringly hot week in Tuscany visiting a friend who was studying in Siena in June 2001. We hired a car and drove about to some of the remote towns and villages. These few lonely trees stood out on top of the hillside ridge and made a great addition to the scene. Strong lighting and a polarising filter helped to saturate the colours.

Sunflower Superior

Taken by Caz on Sunday, 1st August 1999

Sunflower Superior Title: Sunflower Superior
Location: Meursault, Bourgogne, France
Camera: Canon EOS 50E / Vivitar 19-35mm EF
Film: Agfa CTP 200
Notes: Taken during a tour of the Burgundy region of France in 1999. These sunflowers looked spectacular against the dark blue sky and fluffy white clouds. One stoop up taller than the others, and appeared to have a superior attitude.

Under The Pyramide

Taken by Caz on Monday, 19th April 1999

Under The Pyramide Title: Under The Pyramide
Location: Louvre, Paris
Camera: Canon EOS 100 / Vivitar 19-35mm EF
Film: Ilford FP4 125
Notes: The main entrance to the Louvre is now under this huge glass pyramid which sits right in the middle of the main courtyard. When the sun comes out, the atrium beneath is criss-crossed with the shadows made by the diamond panes of glass. This was one of the 15 images I used to gain my ARPS distinction in 1999.

Louvre Geometry

Title: Louvre Geometry
Location: Louvre, Paris
Camera: Canon EOS 600 / Vivitar 19-35mm EF
Film: Agfa CTX 200
Notes: Another shot of the Louvre, this time showing the triangular fountains in the courtyard.

Dusk Over Downtown

Taken by Caz on Wednesday, 12th August 1998

Dusk Over Downtown Title: Dusk Over Downtown
Location: Toronto, Canada
Camera: Canon EOS 600 / Canon 28-105mm EF
Film: Agfa CTX 200
Notes: This is one of my favourite city skyline views anywhere. I took a whole series of shots as dusk fell over the skyline. This was one of the better ones as there is a good balance between light in the sky, the building illuminations and their reflections in the water. What a wonderful spot to sit and watch the view unfold.

Rigging

Taken by Caz on Sunday, 14th November 1993

Rigging Title: Rigging
Location: Sarasota, Florida
Camera: Canon EOS 600 / Sigma 21-35mm EF
Film: Kodak Elite 200
Notes: A day’s yatching was the perfect opportunity to take some shots of the crew in action. Here, I was right underneath the mast as the girl was pulling up the rigging, and using a wide angle lens empahised the height of the mast and exaggerated the perspective.

Space Shuttle Endeavour

Taken by Caz on Friday, 5th November 1993

Space Shuttle Endeavour Title: Space Shuttle Endeavour
Location: Kennedy Space Center, Florida
Camera: Canon EOS 600 / 75-300mm EF f/4.5-5.6
Film: Kodakchrome 200
Notes: This was taken on a bus tour around Kennedy Space Center in November 1993, through the window of the bus. Not my greatest picture ever, but I’m really pleased I managed to photograph at least one Space Shuttle on the pad during the lifetime of the programme. My one regret is that I never got to see it launch.

Blue Luzzu

Taken by Caz on Wednesday, 3rd February 1993

Blue Luzzu Title: Blue Luzzu
Location: Marsaxlokk Bay, Malta
Camera: Canon EOS 650 / Sigma 21-35mm EF
Film: Kodak Elite 100
Notes: The beautifully painted bows of these traditional Maltese fishing boats are normally in the water, but this one was sitting on the harbour side for the winter. This enabled me to show a low viewpoint and have the boat placed against an almost identical blue of the sky.
