The Light Fantastic

Posted by Caz on Wednesday, 27th February 2013

After about two weeks of near-constant gloom in the South East, we finally got some very welcome sunshine today. I was visiting my parents in Wivenhoe and we were able to go for an enjoyable walk on the Quayside in the afternoon. As well as catching wonderful shadows for Day #1885 and a lovely Mono version, I also found some other great shadows at play on various buildings:

Looks like we might be back to the depressing Cement Lid for a while now, but I think you’ll agree that I made the most of the sunshine while it lasted!

Chelmsford Photowalk #44

Posted by Caz on Monday, 25th February 2013

After 3 months’ hiatus, we finally managed another Chelmsford Photowalk yesterday, to The Gibberd Garden near Harlow for their Snowdrop Sunday event. The weather was a bit dull and very cold, but we still had fun. And we definitely saw snowdrops!

Bifurcation Inflation IndentationTitle: Bifurcation Inflation Indentation
Location: The Gibberd Garden, Harlow
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 50mm EF f/1.4 USM
Notes: This afternoon I visited The Gibberd Garden with Chelmsford Flickr Photowalk #44. The were many interesting sculptures to be seen dotted around the grounds. This one is called Bifurcation Inflation – I loved the way the surrounding trees were reflected in the shiny steel surface, and the distortions due to the indentation in the metal.

Weekend Wanders In Kent

Posted by Caz on Tuesday, 19th February 2013

I’ve just come back from a great mini break in Kent visiting my friend in Margate. The weather wasn’t always kind to us, but we did a long walk each day and even manged to stay largely dry. There might have been the odd cake, pub lunch and cocktail involved too…

Our first outing was a stroll in Minnis Bay on Thursday:

Friday was the best day, when we visited Whitstable, enjoyed a windy walk along the beach and a hearty pub lunch:

Saturday’s destination was Sandwich and we walked across the marshes to Sandwich Bay and back:

Sunday dawned with freezing sea fog. Never mind, we thought, it will soon burn off! But no, it lingered all day and we nearly froze to death walking from Botany Bay to Broadstairs. Our reward was a warming hot chocolate at the half way point, before the long trudge back again:

Monday morning was also sunny so I took the opportunity for another quick walk from Westbrook to Westgate Bay before driving home:
