Port Talbot International Salon 2013

Posted by Caz on Tuesday, 12th February 2013

Today I received my report card from the 2nd Annual Port Talbot International salon. I was pleased with 3 entries last year, but absolutely chuffed to find 7 out of my 12 entries have been accepted this time around – a definite improvement! Here they are:

They had recieved 12,049 images from 1,122 entrants across four sections, and the acceptance rate was approximately 30%. So I’ve beaten the average with nearly double that (58%)!

Greater Lynn, Evesham And Basingstoke Results

Posted by Caz on Friday, 23rd March 2012

I’ve had a few more images accepted in various FIAP and BPE Salons and Exhibitions. The first news came from across the pond where I had entered the Greater Lynn International Exhibition, my first entry to a FIAP-accredited salon in the USA. I was pleased to hear that I’d had one accpetance:

The next result was in the Vale of Evesham National Exhibition (with BPE patronage), with this mono image:

The other BPE-sponsored Salon was the result from the Basingstoke National Open Photography Exhibition, where another mono image was selected.

So far this year, I’ve only had one result card back without any acceptances (from the 4th Luxemburg International), but overall I’m pretty pleased with my recent entries and results. I will keep plugging away and am currently looking at sending off entries for the next batch of competitions.

Southport Success 2012

I received my report card a few days ago for the Southport National Open Exhibition. I was pleased to have “Out Of Place” accepted in the digital Mono class:

I’ve now prepared my entries for a whole selection of National and International competitions whose closing dates are coming up soon. Fingers crossed for my run of success to continue!

Port Talbot International Salon 2012

Another salon which I entered recently is the Port Talbot International. I entered all three classes – Open (Colour), Mono and People, with four images in each class. I received notification of my acceptances a few days ago – one in each which was very pleasing:

There was a total of 13,259 entries with 3,857 being selected for the salon. Again, a high standard and  FIAP/PSA patronage, so I was very happy to be in such good company.

Dutch Success

Posted by Caz on Sunday, 12th February 2012

This year, I have vowed to enter more National and International Salons of photography. I have done so in the past (with moderate success) but had let it lapse over the last couple of years. My first entry was to the Holland International Image Circuit which consists of the following five salons:

  1. 14th Tribute To Colour 2012 run by Fotoclub Heerhugowaard
  2. 8th Image Salon Delft 2012 run by Fotoclub’59 Delft
  3. 8th International Image Salon Oldenzaal 2012 run by Fotoclub Oldenzaal
  4. 8th Image Contest Wageningen 2012 run by Camera Club Wageningen
  5. 6th Rainbow Challenge Rijen 2012 run by Foto Amateurs Rijen

The salons all have FIAP, PSA and RPS patronage, so the standard is extremely high. I entered four images in each of three classes (Colour, Monochrome and Travel) in each salon.  While I was away, I was delighted to receive an email notifying me of my success. I had acceptances in all except the Oldenzaal Salon, with a combination of the following:

Fàilte gu Port Rìgh

 Quayside Dusk, Newcastle

Out Of Place

Not bad for my first international salon entry in about 10 years! Although I didn’t win any awards, seven acceptances still feels like a great achievement.
