Piers By County
Deal‘s present pier is the third incarnation, designed by Sir W. Halcrow & Partners and opened in 1957 by the Duke of Edinburgh. Its concrete structure is 1026 ft (311 m) long and replaced the second iron pier which was badly damaged by a Dutch ship during WWII, having stood since 1864.
