Day #335

Day #335Title: The BarCamp Mo’Bro’s
Location: BarCampSheffield2
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: The final day of BarCampSheffield2, and another great series of presentations. The after party was great to unwind too. This group of disreputable types had been growing ‘taches for the whole of Movember to raise money for charity. They are (l to r): Jag Gill, Jonathan Powell, Tim Waters, Marc Johnson, Neal Bartrip, Ian Ibbotson, Jay Cousins and Dominic Hodgson.

Day #333

Day #333Title: Can You Tell What I’m Thinking?
Location: BarCampSheffield2
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: The geekery continues this weekend with a trip to BarCampSheffield2. I haven’t been back to Sheffield since about 1995, after living there for three years whilst at University, so when I BarCamp was announced, I thought it was time I repaid the city a visit. Here you see Pippa modelling her thought bubble. Very fetching!

Day #329

Day #329Title: On Song
Location: Cliffs Pavillion, Wesctcliffe-on-Sea
Camera: Canon Ixus 850IS compact
Notes: Runrig have been one of my favourite bands for getting on 20 years. I first saw them live in Cambridge in 1989, and must have been to around 25 gigs over the years. The last time was December 2003 in Edinburgh when I was building my unsuccessful FRPS portfolio. Since then, they’ve not toured a great deal, or if they have, I’ve not been able to go for whatever reason. But today, they were on my doorstep (Westcliffe isn’t too far) so I went to their show with a couple of long-time friends and Runrig fans from Chelmsford. It was a great gig – still sounding good. Some of the audience were a bit stuffed, but we had a good time! Managed to sneak a few pictures with the compact camera which was in my bag. Thanks for the music and a reminder of how much better it is when heard live!

Day #325

Day #325Title: Senate House Busker
Location: Cambridge
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: I had a meeting in Cambridge this afternoon, and was able to spend a few minutes beforehand taking some pictures around the town centre. The light wasn’t great, but I enjoyed listening to this busker playing classical Spanish tunes in front of the Senate House. He looked quite a character.
