Day #329Title: On Song
Location: Cliffs Pavillion, Wesctcliffe-on-Sea
Camera: Canon Ixus 850IS compact
Notes: Runrig have been one of my favourite bands for getting on 20 years. I first saw them live in Cambridge in 1989, and must have been to around 25 gigs over the years. The last time was December 2003 in Edinburgh when I was building my unsuccessful FRPS portfolio. Since then, they’ve not toured a great deal, or if they have, I’ve not been able to go for whatever reason. But today, they were on my doorstep (Westcliffe isn’t too far) so I went to their show with a couple of long-time friends and Runrig fans from Chelmsford. It was a great gig – still sounding good. Some of the audience were a bit stuffed, but we had a good time! Managed to sneak a few pictures with the compact camera which was in my bag. Thanks for the music and a reminder of how much better it is when heard live!

Day #201Title: Summer Fête Reflections
Location: Ingatestone
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 100-400mm EF f/4-5.6 L IS USM
Notes:
It was Ingatestone’s Summer Fête today, and the Camera Club always has an exhibition of members’ work in one of the tents. It’s one of our biggest recruiting events, as the local population is out in force, often with a camera in hand. This year, as well as the usual side shows, bouncy castle, fire engine, balloon-bending and candyfloss stalls, we were able to see sheepdogs herding geese in the main arena. And The Royal British Legion Youth Band Brentwood performed various tunes whilst showing off their marching skills. The band members must have been very hot in their bright red uniforms in the full sun. I particularly liked this shot as the instrument has been polished to within an inch of it’s life, and shows some great reflections of the other band members in the bell.
