Day #397Title: Two Survivors
Location: Little Leighs
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Despite the bitter wind, I donned my thermals and fleece-lined trousers and went for a walk this afternoon, along the Essex Way just south of Little Leighs. I found a lovely little copse with a stream running through it. But everywhere was riddled with shards of luminous orange clay pigeons. It would seem that these two might have escaped the shoot, but have certainly drowned since.

Day #396Title: Brushed Steel & Highlights
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: A frustrating day for photographs. When there was light, there wasn’t any time. When there was time, there wasn’t any light. It’s just how it goes some days! So I had to resort to another macro shot from around the house, which does, at least, fit with this week’s 52 Themes: Abstract.

Day #395Title: Floating
Location: Hoe Mill Lock
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I managed to skip out for an hour or so this afternoon while the sun was shining. The Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation, along various parts, is a favourite place for taking some photos, so I went back to Hoe Mill Lock for this view of the narrowboats illuminated by late afternoon sun. I loved the apparent effect of them floating on nothing.

Day #393Title: Blue Mills Morning
Location: Near Witham, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Having spent the last two days filing receipts and preparing accounting spreadsheets, I finally managed to submit my tax return online this morning (yes, I know I was cutting it fine!). Then the fresh air and sunshine beckoned, so I found my walking boots and went for a potter around Blue Mills, just east of Witham. On the way home, I dropped in on a friend whom I haven’t seen for ages, and managed to buy some groceries. So all in all, a more fulfilling day!

Day #392Title: Stress
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: It’s amazing what you miss if you’re not really looking. I walk by this every day, but only noticed it today. Must keep my eyes open more often!

Day #391Title: Rain, Rain, Go Away
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 100-400mm EF f/4.5-5.6 L IS
Notes: A disappointing day: I was hoping to go on a photowalk with some local Flickr friends today – the first of a (hopefully) monthly get-together. But in the end, everyone decided it was too wet to meet. This just about sums up my feelings about the day – a puddle outside in the street, with incessant rain falling and depressing, grey light everywhere.
