Day #673

Day #673 Title: Boffoonery
Location: Bloomsbury Theatre
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: I enjoyed another evening for 40@40 with friend Alan today. We started off with a lovely Thai dinner and then saw the Boffoonery Comedy benefit gig for Bletchley Park at the Bloomsbury Theatre. It was a great wheeze 😉

Day #657 Title: King Of The Castle
Location: Blackpool
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: After an excellent party on Saturday night at BarCamp Blackpool, our original plan was to go on the rollercoasters at the Pleasure Beach today. But nobody was feeling very lively! Instead, Alistair and I decided to hire a couple of bikes and take a ride to find some geocaches. Just as we started pedalling, it started raining. We did over 10 miles in the end, and enjoyed ourselves despite getting wet. This is a view near St Anne’s where Alistair decided to pose with our trusty yellow steeds.

Day #630 Title: A Pint In The Sun
Location: The Viper, Mill Green
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: This morning was a little damp and grey, but by lunchtime the weather had perked up. I had arranged to meet a friend for lunch to catch up, as she has been away travelling in the Far East for 9 weeks. We decided to head to The Viper for a bite to eat, and found this relaxed old gent sitting outside enjoying his pint in the sun.

Day #621 Title: Wembley Awayday
Location: Wembley, London
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8
Notes: I haven’t been to see a rugby game for a while now, so I was really looking forward to going to Wembley [a venue more commonly used for football or Rugby League] with rugby-loving friend Fiona to see Saracens vs Northampton Saints. Sarries normally play at Vicarage Road, Watford, so the visit to Wembley was quite a treat for us and the 44,830 other spectators who turned up! The first half was pretty mundane, but after what we can only assume was a good dressing room talking-to at half time, both teams came out in the second half with all guns blazing. Sarries managed to survive a late assault by the Saints and win the game 19-16. A great afternoon all round and an enjoyable 40@40 event. Unfortunately, I didn’t take my long lens as I wasn’t too sure if I would be able to take any pictures inside the stadium, so this was a quick grab shot of the half time entertainments with the 50mm lens.

Day #607 Title: Geeks Play Trains
Location: London Colney
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Alistair had organised the Geek Steem BBQ for this afternoon, which basically involved about a dozen geeks turning up at the North London Society of Model Engineers and playing with their outdoor train sets for hours. Plus incinerating things on the BBQ. We had a great time, and even got to drive some of the trains. Here, you see The Hodge being let loose on the electric train – Alistair looks remarkably happy about being his first passenger of the day!

Day #603 Title: Relaxing By The Pool
Location: Harlow Common
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I was invited to a business networking lunch at the home of a friend today. It was a very relaxed atmosphere as we sat by the pool, ate a lovely buffet lunch and found out more about each others’ businesses. I seem to be turning into a Lady Who Lunches. Ah well…
