Day #728 Title: Ice Breaker
Location: Little Waltham Nature Reserve
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8
Notes: Our Chelmsford Flickr group took a walk in the Nature Reserve at Little Waltham this morning. There was plenty of frost about, and ice lingering in some of the pools and rivers. This stretch of ice held our attention for a while.

Day #372Title: A Crisp Winter Morning
Location: Audley End
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I had to go to a meeting in Saffron Walden this morning. When I woke, there was a hard frost again and I had trouble de-icing the car. But I left plenty of time for my journey. Thankfully, the roads were fine and I arrived early. So I was able to spend a few minutes taking some pictures at Audley End beforehand. It’s quite a different scene to my last visit! To be honest, I had been apprehensive about the meeting for a while; it was crunch-time for my big development project. But it went event better than I had hoped. By 3pm we had finished, and I was able to find another couple of geocaches on the way home. All in all, a rather good day.

Day #369Title: Ice Abstract
Location: Skreens Park, near Roxwell
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: It was a beautiful crisp, blue sky day when I woke up. My iPhone weather application was telling me it was -4° outside, so I put my thermals on, along with my huge fleece-lined coat, hat and gloves, and set off for a walk near Roxwell and Willingale. The light was fantastic, and there wasn’t much wind, so it actually didn’t feel too bad. But in the shade, everything was still well frozen even around midday. This puddle caught my eye on a path to Skreens Park. I’ve never seen such patterns in water before. And a glint of sun just helped to outline the edges perfectly.
