Day #650

Day #650 Title: Autumn Decay
Location: Wivenhoe
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: I went to visit Mum & Dad for lunch today, and had a wander around their garden. They have a large selection of Hostas on the patio, which are now sadly looking a little the worse for Autumn. Interesting shapes and patterns though.

Day #625 Title: Red Edges
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: The weather improved today, as did my mood. This was taken during a visit to a client’s this afternoon. She is a herbalist, and always has interesting things growing in her garden.  This is a type of Heuchera, I think, although I’m not sure of the variety. I liked the strong colour at the edges of the leaf.

Day #605 Title: All Day Breakfast
Location: Wivenhoe
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: I spent the afternoon at my parents’ after a lunch time meeting in Colchester, and before an evening meeting in Ipswich. One of their rose bushes was being munched by these hungry little caterpillars. They are going to be big, strong butterflies, if the quantity of leaves they have noshed is anything to go by!

Day #585 Title: Ladybird And Raindrops
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: Another grey and mostly sunless day today. I had to go out this afternoon for a client meeting and decided to have a quick look around the garden for a picture once I got home. This little ladybird caught my eye, crawling over my Fatsia japonica. I loved the wonderful leathery texture of the Caster Oil plant’s leaf, and the couple of drops from last night’s rain still sitting on the surface set it off nicely.

Day #389Title: Raindrop Magnifiers
Location: At  home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: It was a pretty wet morning, although the sun did poke its way through the clouds during the afternoon. I took this little macro study of the rain when I got home from a meeting at lunchtime. This week’s 52 Themes topic is “The Natural World”, so I might well use it for that if I don’t get anything more inspiring during the week.
