Day #790 Title: The Underwater Garden
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: We were supposed to be going out on a local Flickr walk today, but it was pouring down yet again, so we decided to give it a miss. Instead, I thought I would have a go at some shots dropping food colouring into water. I’ve been meaning to try this out for a while, and it was a lot more difficult than it looked! I took over 200 imges, and selected a dozen or so, but this was the one I liked best. I might well write a blog post about how it was done, if I get some time soon. Incidentally, this is effectively upside down – but I thought the swirls looked like plants growing in a garden this way up. A good shot for Treasure Hunt theme 62: Underwater.

Day #789 Title: Serpentine Lake
Location: Hylands Park
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: After almost a week of incessant rain, the countryside locally is pretty soggy underfoot. I decided to venture out to Hylands Park to find a recently-placed geocache. It wasn’t too bad, but Serpentine Lake was looking rather full! I thought this dual-toned treatment worked quite well for this particular scene.

Day #788 Title: The Rusty Railing
Location: White’s Bridge, Margaretting
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: Another field flooded, this time by the River Wid (off to the left of the frame), between Margaretting and Galleywood at White’s Bridge. Not surprising after the amount of rain we have had. I made the most of a brief period of sunshine on my way home from Ingatestone this morning. It might have looked warm, but it was blowing a howling gale too, as you can see by the ripples on the surface of the floodwater.

Day #786 Title: From Tree To Frame
Location: Stock Church
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I took advantage of a brief period of sunshine on the way home from a meeting this afternoon. The light was nice just as I was passing through Stock, so I stopped off at the church and had a quick look around. This is one of the glazed porch windows, showing the trees reflected in them. Loved the grain of the wood.

Day #785 Title: Buds & Raindrop
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: Another terrible day. I had a meeting near Ongar at lunch time and had to make my way home through driving sleet afterwards. Lovely. I noticed my Acer in the garden is getting optimistic about the arrival of Spring, despite the wintry conditions around. And this makes a good capture for the Treasure Hunt theme 18: Minimalism/Simplicity.

Day #784 Title: Wet ‘n’ Wild
Location: Roxwell
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I drove through some snow this morning to a client meeting in Cambridge, and hoped to get some white shots on the way home this afternoon. But by that time, it had mostly melted and the driving hazards were replaced with flooding in the road! This is just by the spot where I took Day #757‘s shot, on a minor road leading to Roxwell. The main A1060 nearby was also flooded with significant amounts of water. Just goes to show that you should not rule out an interesting picture even in grim weather!
