Day #1091

Day #1091Title: Puzzled
Location: Elham, Kent
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: We had fully intended to take another walk today and hopefully shake off some of the excesses of overstuffing turkey yesterday. But somehow we got sucked into doing a huge jigsaw puzzle which Julian had been given for Christmas. It was over 1,000 pieces and was particularly fiendish as we didn’t get a picture showing us what we were making! So it took 5 of us nearly 6 hours to put it together. Here we are looking smug, having finished it at last!

Day #1053Title: The Old Toll Bridge
Location: Shoreham-by-Sea
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After last night’s evening at Steyning Camera Club, I was very glad of the hospitality of Malcolm and his wife Guida, which meant I avoided a 90-mile drive home in the dark. This morning, I took the opportunity to enjoy some time with Ken over coffee and a bacon sandwich in Shoreham-by-Sea. Conversations with Ken are always thought-provoking, not just about photography but about philosophy and life in general. We decided to take a little stroll to walk off the bacon and arrived at the Old Toll Bridge (actually not so old, as it was completely refurbished in 2008) just as this gent was walking his dog across it.

Day #1043

Day #1043Title: Ghostly Cyclists On Sidney Street
Location: Cambridge
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I left Leeds in torrential rain this morning, and was in Cambridge in time for an early afternoon meeting. That finished around 5:30pm and I remembered that it was Cambridge Geek Night, so I decided to stay on in the city and attend. This was taken on the walk back to the car park after the event when, thankfully, it had actually stopped raining for a bit!

Day #1040Title: Sparkler Kids
Location: City Island, Leeds
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I went to a Bonfire Night party at some friends in Leeds this evening. We watched everyone else’s fireworks from their balcony and lit a few sparklers to wave about. What a great view. A couple of the kiddies enjoyed playing with the sparklers too.

Day #1027Title: Big Kids
Location: Great Notley Country Park
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I had the opportunity to spend a while in Great Notley Country Park this afternoon, and had a good walk around. To begin with there weren’t many families about, and I spotted this young couple having great fun on the tyre swings – I loved the rapport between them as they had fun. I didn’t know them, so this one makes a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #15 – Strangers.

Day #1014Title: Cache In, Trash Out
Location: Hadleigh Country Park
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: Today I attended a Cache In Trash Out (CITO) geocaching event at Hadleigh Country Park. We found some caches and picked up 35 bin bags full of litter between us. Great to see so many people willing to give up their Sunday morning in such an altruistic past time! We had a good laugh too. I thought this would make an excellent find for Treasure Hunt Theme 51 – Eco Friendly.
