Day #1074

Posted by Caz on Thursday, 9th December 2010

Day #1074Title: Fiery Sky
Location: Great Notley Country Park
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After a meeting in Braintree this afternoon, I was on my way home when I noticed there was a rather interesting sunset going on. So I stopped off at the Discovery Centre to make a few images. Unfortunately, I only got a couple of sunset shots, but was just a bit too late to make anything really interesting. By the time I climbed the hill to the Kestrel it was all but sunk below the horizon.

Day #1054Title: In A Fog Of Obscurity
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I’m afraid the weather was a pretty good reflection of how I felt today. Woolly and washed out, this was the view from the window this morning. And it’s not much better now. I was supposed to be going out this evening, but I’ve decided to just stay at home and have an early night. As Dai points out, we’ve been doing rather a lot recently, so I hope it’s just tiredness rather than me coming down with the lurgy!

Day #902 Title: Compound Eyes
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: After being cooped up indoors all weekend at The Guardian for Science Hack, we decided to get some fresh air when we got back home. So we had a pleasant evening walk on Galleywood Common and then sat on the grass soaking up the last of the sun. I took the macro lens along too, and caught this fly lounging on a tree branch. I’m not mad keen on flies, but they do look interesting in close up.

Day #885 Title: In The Shadow Of An Oak
Location: East Hanningfield
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: Having been cooped up in the office all day admiring the sunshine out of the window, I managed a quick walk near East Hanningfield this evening, where I found this rather impressive old oak along the path.

Day #855 Title: Big Red Blob
Location: St Giles High Street, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I needed to stop off in the West End on the way to work today, and came across this new sculpture in St. Giles High Street, close to the location of a previous shot, taken on Day #761. I thought it made a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme 20: Constrasts.

Day #848Title: Morning Fields
Location: Ingatestone
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: Uncharacteristically, I was early for the train this morning, so I took a short walk for some photos near the station. The Oilseed rape is beginning to flower, and I liked the way this old tree framed the sky.

Day #821Title: Silver Bonsai
Location: Hornsey, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I went to my friend’s studio today to give a talk to a group of photographers about Creative Macro. The venue is a unit in a complex of industrial workshops. Downstairs is a very nice café where everyone goes for lunch, and in their window they had this attractive (but dead!) bonsai tree sprayed with silver paint. I liked the way it contrasted with the blood red wall behind.
