Day #1444 Title: The Showroom
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 IOS
Notes: An expensive day: I had to take the car in for its annual MOT and service first thing this morning. It’s a VW Polo with 90K+ miles on the clock, but being a TDi diesel it’s likely to go on forever (or until the rest of it drops to bits). Thankfully it’s not that bad yet – but it does need a few pounds spending on it now – the bill came to several hundreds. On the walk back to the garage to pick it up, I passed the VW Showroom which was trying to tempt me into buying a new shiny – these are sadly several orders of magnitude out of my price bracket at present. So back to my old faithful!

Day #1439 Title: Scaffold Monkeys
Location: Broadgate Circle
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 IOS
Notes: Back to Broadgate Circle this morning, this time for a different view of the building works which are going on. The scaffolders are beginning to take down the structure, so I guess they are finishing up now. I liked the contrast between the red crane and the blue sky, and the tiny figures way up high, giving a great sense of scale and perspective. I don’t mind heights, but rather them than me!

Day #1436 Title: A Shard Of Light
Location: River Thames, London
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: This evening I met up with a couple of friends after work to do some night photography in London. We were only intending to stay a couple of hours but ended up finishing very late. Still, it was an enjoyable walk around St Paul’s and the environs. This was shot under the Millennium Bridge, looking back down the Thames towards Tower Bridge. The Shard is going up very quickly and is almost fully glazed now.

Day #1433 Title: Enchanted Evening
Location: Syon House
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: I spent a very enjoyable evening with some Flickr friends at Syon House for their Enchanted Woodland event. Lots of low light photography – trees, reflections and lasers! All good fun. This is a statue in the fountain outside the Orangery – inside of which is the laser show.

Day #1432 Title: Walk On By
Location: Smithfield Market, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 IOS
Notes: On the way from work to meet friends for dinner this evening, I took a walk via Smithfield Market. I was surprised how busy the thoroughfare was, and wanted to capture a feeling of the business of life as it passed. These two provided the moving interest inbetween the static iconic red phone boxes. A good find for Treasure Hunt Theme #53 – Busy.

Day #1425 Title: Bunhill Row
Location: Finsbury, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I took an alternative route to work this morning from the station. Bunhill Row is a fine old Georgian terrace in Finsbury. I liked the red bikes parked next to the big red door. As I was lining up the shot, a bicycle courier wearing a red top obligingly rode by at the right moment.
