Notes: We left Kurashiki after breakfast and arrived in Kyoto just before lunchtime, having been on another swift Shinkansen service. Our first port of call was Nishiki Market to find something to eat, then hop into taxis to take us up the hill to the Kiyomizu-dera Temple complex. It was very busy, but there were still little corners where you could find some peace and quiet. This was at a little Shintō shrine on the edge of the site. I loved the way the light was falling onto the scene. I then walked into town along some of the charming back streets, arriving in time to have an evening guided walk of the Gion Geisha district. Then more walking to meet the others for dinner. Kyoto is very tiring! But there is so much to see, and we are only here for a couple of days. Read more about my stay.
