Day #1778 Title: Bright Idea
Location: Galleywood
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm f/1.7
Notes:  Enthused from my lightpainting session last week, today I went on the hunt for some battery operated LED fairy lights – the Christmas displays are all up at the local garden centre now. Despite needing them for nocturnal outings, the guy at the shop could only offer me solar-powered lights. I politely declined! But at least I got a shot of these pretty mains powered strings as a consolation prize.

Day #1635 Title: Grunge Chic
Location: New Broadcasting House
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 IOS
Notes: One of the requirements for furnishing the new building is that items should be as “green” as possible, sourced from UK suppliers and with low carbon footprints. This table has been constructed from recycled wood of different colours and textures. On one corner it said “made in Peckham”. So it seems to fit the bill rather well! I thought this would make a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #28 – Grunge.

Day #1616 Title: Les Fontaines de Beauborg
Location: Beauborg, Paris
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: The morning after the night before, and what a trek! We stopped for food on the Champes-Elysées at around 2am, most glad of the rest and sustenance. Just as we left around three, the heavens opened and dumped a huge thunderstorm on us for the next two hours. We abandoned sunrise (what sunrise?) at Trocadéro and sheltered under a bridge for a while. Eventually several of the group headed back to Gare du Nord for their early train, but five of us stayed on for more punishment. We caught some breakfast in Notre Dame, walked to La Musee d’Orsay for a look around and lunch, then back via the Louvre. Our final stop was Beauborg and the Centre Georges Pompidou. These colourful fountains are next door in Place Igor Stranvinski. I’d visited them before in 1995 but not been back since. Finally a long trudge to the RER and Gare du Nord. Once on the Eurostar, our heads hit the seats and we were out like lights for three hours! VERY tiring, but good fun, despite the weather. Read more about the trip.

Day #1517 Title: The Colours Of Portobello Road
Location: Portobello Road, London
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 50 EF f/1.4 USM
Notes: We had a wonderfully sunny day for the London Flickr Meetups group photowalk to Portobello Road market. I took loads of street photographs, some portraits and two stranger images, but my favourite from the day was this one which shows the vibrant colours of some of the architecture.
