Day #1793

Day #1793 Title: Face Down November (Inclement Weather Edition)
Location: Heybridge Basin
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: This wasn’t the location I originally had in mind for this month’s Face Down Tuesday. Initially I was going to shoot it at Paper Mill Lock which is about 5 miles from home, but I tried driving there today only to find the road closed due to severe flooding. No chance of getting anywhere near. So I journeyed further down the canal – all 13 miles – to the outlet at Heybridge Basin where it empties into the Blackwater Estuary via a tidal lock. Hardly a soul about today – and not surprising – due to the persistent drizzle. I was lucky to get this in the bag and drive home again before the deluge started in earnest once more.

Day #1723 Title: Face Down September (Tokyo Temple Edition)
Location: Sensō-ji, Tokyo, Japan
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: Just because I’m in Japan for all of the Tuesdays in September, doesn’t mean I would forget to do a Face Down Tuesday shot! It was just a case of finding a suitable location. So here it is… outside one of the quieter temples at the Sensō-ji complex, I found a spot where nobody was paying me any attention, and with the addition of a suitable local prop, here is September’s Face Down image. Of course, it’s also for Treasure Hunt Theme #10 – Once A Month, SeptemberRead more about my stay.

Day #1709 Title: The Red Umbrella
Location: Zenkō-ji Temple, Nagano
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: We moved on to the mountain town of Nagano this morning. We are staying in traditional temple lodgings near the Zenkō-ji shrine. Once we had left our bags we had a tasty lunch of the local soba noodles in the town and then we were able to wander around at our leisure. Zenkō-ji is a beautiful Buddhist temple, in the north of the town. The chief priest walks under a red umbrella on his way to the ceremonies. This one was used as a sun shade on a picnic table in the grounds. Read more about my stay.

Day #1653 Title: Not Singing In It
Location: Cambridge Circus, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 IOS
Notes: I took a walk into Soho at lunchtime and it rained on me AGAIN. Getting rather cheesed off with the weather now. At least this advert for Singing In The Rain at the Cambridge Theatre provided a splash of colour for the day…
