Day #1886Title: Up, Up And Away
Location: Mountnessing
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: A little bit more sunshine today, so I was able to get out for a walk. I was photographing these mis-matched contrails in the blue sky when a passing jet flew into the frame, on its way from Stansted to exotic locations south.

Day #1885Title: Red Wall & Shadows
Location: Lord Nelson Court, Wivenhoe
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 45-200mm f/4-5.6 IOS
Notes: We finally had some decent amounts of sunshine today! It’s been a while. I was visiting Mum and Dad and we enjoyed a sunny but cold walk along the Quay in Wivenhoe. The shadow of an ornate wrought iron bench on a balcony projected onto the modern red wall caught my eye. Here’s a different view, in mono.

Day #1882Title: Miro’s Ladder
Location: The Gibberd Garden, Harlow
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: The Chelmsford Photowalk Flickr group finally met up again today after a break of almost 3 months. We visited The Gibberd Garden near Harlow, which has around 90 different sculptures dotted around the grounds of the house once owned by renowned architect and town planner, Sir Frederick Gibberd. It was great to catch up with the folks again, and even though the weather was cold and grey, we had a fun time wandering around finding images. We might also have sampled the tea and cakes in the tearoom! This is a detail from a piece called Miro’s Ladder by artist Tim Monks. I loved the rich blues and reds of the stained glass.

Day #1881Title: Spooning
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Strobist: 1 x YN560 from right through Softbox @ 1/64, 1 x YN560 from left through Softbox @ 1/32
Notes: Another quick studio setup today. Here is a set of lovely lacquered spoons which I bought in Japan last year – sitting on top of some colourful washi paper acquired on the same trip. I thought it made a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #59 – Cutlery.
