Day #1924

Day #1924Title: Study In Yellow
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 40mm EF f/2.8 STM
Strobist: 1 x YN560 from above through DIY stoftbox @ 1/32
Notes: I had a very lazy day today, just what was needed. Which meant I had to drum something up in the studio this evening – I thought this would make a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #55 – All One Colour.

  1. I recently purchased a Splash Art Kit. I use a Canon 7D camera and have 3 Yongnuo 560 strobes. Before I purchased I asked about using my Cowboy remote shutter controls and was told they would not work with the system and I would have to use one of my strobes in manual and the other 2 in slave. I see in the pictures of your setup you seem to be using a remote shutter control and I wonder what it is and will it work with the setup of my Canon 7D and three strobes.

    1. Don,
The way I set it up is to have the Splash Art Kit control the camera shutter, and use mirror lock up mode to minimize shutter lag. Then the camera fires the flashes via Yongnuo 602TX on the hot shoe, and all my flashes are in full manual mode with Yongnuo 602TX units on them. I found using a combination of manual and slave was giving me horrible ghosting effects as the flashes didn’t fire at exactly the same time. If you use wireless triggers, there will be an extra minute delay, but this should be the same to all flashes to the ghosting disappears. Hope that helps?
