Day #2181

Day #2181Title: Sandford Mill Footbridge – December
Location: Sandford Mill
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Notes: With the promise of some late winter sunshine after all the recent rain, I chose today to take a final visit to my monthly scenic location at Sandford Mill Footbridge. The river is very high right now, with the flow swirling under the bridge as I crossed. It completes my Treasure Hunt #12 – Once A Month – December.

Day #2144Title: It’s Gone Green
Location: Ingatestone Station
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 40mm EF f/2.8 STM
Notes: I’ve photographed the footbridge at Ingatestone Station on many occasions, the last just 99 days ago on Day #2045 when it had just had a fresh coat of blue paint. To my surprise, it’s now been painted a horrible sludgy green! Not sure why. But the long low shadows made it look interesting as I crossed this morning.

Day #2094Title: Sandford Mill Footbridge – September
Location: Sandford Mill
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Notes: I realised it was going to be a foggy morning today, so made a special effort to get up early and pop down to Sandford Mill Footbridge for my monthly shot in some typical Autumnal weather conditions. The cyclists were in evidence again (the bridge is on National Cycle Route #1, so it’s no surprise really). This time, the pedaller in question was heading away from me, but he still adds a bit of interest. Of course, the image is for Treasure Hunt Theme #09 – Once A Month – September.

Day #2045Title: The Handrail
Location: Ingatestone Station
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: The crusty old Victorian footbridge on Ingatestone Station has just had its handrails painted. The vibrant yellow is a fantastic contrast with the blue of the structure. My August images have so far been quite subdued, so I thought it was time to choose a more colourful subject for today. This morning’s sunshine also provided some contrasting shadows. It makes a great image for Treasure Hunt Theme #28 – Complimentary Colours.

Day #2030Title: Sandford Mill Footbridge – July
Location: Sandford Mill
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: Time for the monthly visit to Sandford Mill. Plenty of plant growth now. I managed to catch a mum fishing in the river with her little girl right on the edge of frame.

Day #1979Title: Blinking In The Evening Light
Location: Quayside, Newcastle
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: I’ve been to Newcastle quite a few times over the past five years, but I’ve never seen the Millennium Bridge (know locally as the Blinking Eye) tilt up to let boats pass underneath. Well this evening it did, and the light was fantastic. Well worth the wait!

Day #1963Title: Sandford Mill Footbridge – May
Location: Sandford Mill
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: Time for my monthly location shot, I needed to take it within the next week as I’m away in the North East at the end of the month. So today I set out on my bike for a ride to Sandford Mill. The sun was shining and clouds were big and fluffy. What a difference a few weeks’ Spring growth makes – compare this to last time I visited on Day #1930!
