Day #2116

Day #2116Title: Rosy Bonnet
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Strobist: 1 x YN560 from RHS, through Stofen diffuser @ 1/32; 1 x YN560 from LHS, through Stofen diffuser @ 1/32
Notes: Thankfully, the plumber turned up promptly this morning and managed to sort out the boiler problem, so that’s one less thing to worry about. It wasn’t exactly cheap, but it could have been much worse. Water continued to flow from the sky for most of the day (but not the boiler). By late this afternoon, I noticed a break in the clouds, so I packed up my fungi-hunting kit and headed to Galleywood Common to find a few mores specimens. This lovely duo of Mycena rosea were lurking in the wet undergrowth, with the flash bringing out the sparkle.

Day #2101Title: On The Forest Floor
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: We had a little potter on Galleywood Common this afternoon, looking for fungi. There weren’t many decent specimens but this one stood out in a clearing. Then we enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and slice of cake at the Heritage Centre Café.

Day #2046Title: Pink Clouds & Grasses
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 40mm EF f/2.8 STM
Notes: I had plenty of location opportunities for pictures in London today, but not nearly enough time to take advantage of them. So by the time I got back to the station on the way home, I had not made a single image. Not wishing to resort to some macro shots in the studio, I took a detour while driving home and evoentually the sunset presented itself in a pleasing manner at my favourite sunset watching spot on Galleywood Common. The barbed wire and grasses provided a bit of foreground interest.

Day #2017Title: What Lies Within
Location: Galleywood Heritage Centre
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: It was another scorching hot day today and I was getting very warm in my office. So I took an hour off this afternoon and went to Galleywood Common to see if I could find some pictures for the day. I went into Galleywood Heritage Centre for a sit down, tea and cake, which was very tasty! And then I found this showy Poppy in the little garden they have there.

Day #1991Title: Celestial Spotlights
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 45-200mm f/4-5.6 IOS
Notes: There was the promise of an interesting sunset this evening, so I hot-footed it to my favourite sunset-watching spot on Galleywood Common. I wasn’t disappointed – and even found three celestial spotlights shining for me through the clouds!
