Day #2014

Day #2014Title: A Refreshing Pint
Location: Rose & Crown, Sandon
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: Boy, did I need this! It was a couple of miles from home on the way back from a 22-mile bike ride on a VERY hot afternoon. Suitably refreshed afterwards, I pedalled the remaining distance without too much puffing and wheezing!

Day #1906Title: Etchings
Location: Toot Hill, Essex
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: It was the Essex Geocachers’ social meeting this evening, which happens every couple of months at different pubs around the county. Basically, it’s an excuse for a pint and a natter. The Green Man at Toot Hill was this month’s destination – indoors they have some fine etched glass mirrors on the walls which I rather liked.

Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Strobist: 1 x YN560 from each side through Softbox @ 1/64, bounced off white card
Notes: I found this funky plastic glass in town today – and knew I just had to buy it to play with in the studio.

Day #1871 Title: Frothy
Location: Great Notely
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: GNPC committee meeting this evening, held in the pub! Trouble is, it’s a long drive, so I was on the no-alco beer again, despite it being served in this rather attractive Peroni glass.

Day #1850 Title: A Fish Out Of Water
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Strobist: 1 x YN560 from left through Softbox @ 1/32, 1 x YN560 from behind through Softbox @ 1/32
Notes: The snow has reached the ugly half-thawed stage now, and I was pretty busy with work all day. So I resorted to a late night shot in the studio. This is a beautiful little hand-made glass chopstick rest in the shape of a goldfish, which I bought in the lovely town of Kurashiki in Japan last September. Resting on it is a pair of green lacquered chopsticks which were given to each of us by our tour guide Tom as a souvenir. They are too good to use! The ensemble is finished off with a little bamboo mat which  is used to roll up makizushi.
