Day #2188Title: Oarweed & Pebbles
Location: Deal, Kent
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Notes: Today it was cold, wet and very windy. But Julian and I still ventured out for a little walk in Deal and Walmer. We found a couple of geocaches close to the beach. I also spotted this oarweed, which looked good contrasted against the pebbles.

Day #2186Title: Santa Brought Me A Rainbow
Location: Cliftonville, Kent
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Notes: We had a lovely Christmas day with friends in Margate. They have a glass conservatory on the end of their kitchen and at certain times of the day the sunlight casts huge rainbows on the tiles. It was a lovely bright addition to Christmas.

Day #2185Title: Doggy Photobomb At The Beach
Location: Stone Bay, Broadstairs
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Notes: I had a pleasant journey to Kent this morning and arrived at Julian’s house earlier than planned, thanks to clear roads and not much rain. We decided to have a bracing walk in Broadstairs and found a quaint pub for a pint. On the beach, I was just lining up this scene of some seaweed and the waves when a friendly dog came and photobombed my shot.

Day #1876Title: Bedrock
Location: St Mildred’s Bay, Kent
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Last day of my visit to the Kent Coast today. It was sunny so I decided to have a little walk along the beach between Westbrook and West Bay near Broadstairs, before heading home. I was fascinated by the way the chalk bedrock is being eroded and uncovered by the sand in St. Mildred’s Bay. View the full set on Flickr.

Day #1875 Title: Beach Zig-Zag
Location: Broadstairs, Kent
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: We had another long walk today, this time in freezing sea fog, a round trip between Botany Bay and Broadstairs. Bracing is not the way to describe it… Another found still life on the beach. See the whole set on Flickr.

Day #1874 Title: Beached Coral
Location: Sandwich Bay, Kent
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: The weather wasn’t so good today, cloudy but at least it was dry. We went on a 7-mile walk around Sandwich Bay. I found this coral caught in a beached fishing net on the shingle at Sandwich Bay. I thought it would make a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #19 – Discarded. See the whole set on Flickr.

Day #1872 Title: Minnis Bay
Location: Minnis Bay, Kent
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 40mm EF f/2.8 STM
Notes: I was travelling light this afternoon for a walk along the prom at Minnis Bay – I just took the 40mm f/2.8 lens along as it is small and lightweight. The groynes formed attractive patterns in the water – and there were some wonderful cloud formations. You can see the rest of my pictures from the walk on Flickr.
