Day #1981

Day #1981Title: Living On The Edge
Location: Walkergate, Newcastle
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: A long day, largely spent driving home from Newcastle in the bright sunshine. Sadly not much time for making pictures, but I took this in Alistair’s back yard before departing. It’s amazing how tenacious these little flowers are, barely hanging on in the cracks. I also managed a quick walk when I got home to catch an impressive sunset.

Day #1980Title: Orange Landy
Location: Leazes Park, Newcastle
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: After another trip to help out at Maker Space this morning, Alistair and I took a walk to Leazes Park to meet up with a photographic friend for a look around the Newcastle Green Festival. This detail from an orange Land Rover caught my eye! Once we had finished, we then took the bikes on another long ride via Jesmond Dene and Gosforth. A tiring but fun adventure.

Day #1979Title: Blinking In The Evening Light
Location: Quayside, Newcastle
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: I’ve been to Newcastle quite a few times over the past five years, but I’ve never seen the Millennium Bridge (know locally as the Blinking Eye) tilt up to let boats pass underneath. Well this evening it did, and the light was fantastic. Well worth the wait!

Day #1977Title: Urban Cammo
Location: Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: A really tiring but fun day. Alistair took me on a 21-mile round trip bike ride to Newburn via both banks of the Tyne. We refuelled half way with tea and chocolate fudge cake. Then indulged in a swift pint at The Tyne pub at the bottom of the Ouseburn Valley before heading home. This camouflaged drainpipe was among some other graffiti on a wall on Maling Street, which I passed while toiling up yet another hill!

Day #1976Title: Safety First, Fashion Later
Location: Maker Space, Newcastle
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 50mm EF f/1.4 USM
Notes: We had a busy evening, first meeting friends in the pub for an early feed, then helping to pack up everything in Maker Space to prepare for their move to new, bigger premises in the centre of Newcastle. Alistair donned these “fashionable” safety glasses before taking down some shelving. I’ve had a fiddle with cross processing to give it a slightly different feel.

Day #1975Title: The Harbourmaster’s Window
Location: St Peter’s Basin, Newcastle
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: Our 10 mile geocaching bike ride today took us along the Walker and Byker stretch of the Tyne. St Peter’s Basin is always good for pictures (last seen on Day #1539). This time around, the window of the Harbourmaster’s House, with its colourful clapboard sides, took my fancy.

Day #1973Title: Clear For Takeoff
Location: Civic Centre, Newcastle
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 8-15mm Fisheye EF f/4 L USM
Notes: After a couple of hours at the new Maker Space venue today, Alistair and I embarked on a long geocaching walk around Newcastle and to find some images for the day. We passed the Civic Centre as the sun was blazing down – the sculpture of these geese taking off from  the pond made a great addition to the scene. It also makes a perfect shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #29 – Things With Wings.
