Day #2128

Day #2128Title: Obedience In The Park
Location: Chelmer Park
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I had lots of jobs to do at home today after my weekend away, but managed a quick walk around Chelmer Park this afternoon once the sun had come out. This lady was training her two dogs and paused in the perfect place to give some more interest to my composition.

Day #2110Title: You Made Us JUMP!
Location: Great Notley
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Strobist: 5 x YN560 from in front, bare @ full power
Notes: This evening was Strobist night at GNPC – we were asked to get into small groups and go out locally to make a shot with flash. Neil, Rob and I decided to do a jump shot. This was our best take, amid much laughing and re-takes – great fun and a good way to learn. I was able to use all 5 of my Yongnuo flashes for this one, arranged in an arc in front of us. The camera was on a long exposure of about 10″; the flashes were fired manually via the wireless trigger in my hand as we jumped.

Day #2054Title: Cuts Like A Knife!
Location: Clissold House, Stoke Newington
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: Today I attended an evening Wedding reception to celebrate my friends Vanessa and John tying the knot. It was a lovely do held in the elegant surroundings of Clissold House, right in the middle of a huge park. This was a fun picture made while they were waiting for the caterers to provide them with something suitable to cut their cake!

Day #2051Title: Striding Across Whitecross Place
Location: Broadgate, London
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: Back to work in London today, I walked to the office via Whitecross Place this morning. It’s always good for photo opportunities, and you’ve seen it before on Day #1607 and 29th MoNovebmer ’11. The sun reflecting off some of the big glass offices surrounding the square made for soft shadows on the paving but more defined outlines of the busy commuters walking past.

Day #1996Title: Sandford Mill Footbridge – June
Location: Sandford Mill
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: I managed to persuade Alistair to help me out with a silly shot for Face Down Tuesday today. And he was also good enough to clone himself six times to give my monthly picture at this location a bit of a twist. Of course, it provides my shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #06 – Scenic Location – June.

Day #1986Title: The Exchange
Location: North Weald Station, Epping To Ongar Railyway
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I spent much of the day with Dad, exploring around the Epping to Ongar Railway in west Essex. We went for a look around almost exactly a year ago, just after it had first opened (on Day #1622). Then we rode the train to scout for photographic locations, but this time we walked some of the local footpaths to see where the best views were to be had. The weather, as is annoyingly common on such trips, was sunny – but only when there wasn’t a steam train in sight! This picture was made at North Weald station as GWR 2-6-2T No. 4141 was approaching the platform. It looks static, but the 80-tonne engine was travelling at about 10 miles an hour as the Driver leaned out of his cab, as far as he could, to drop the Single Line Token onto the waiting Signalman’s arm. I happened to time everything just right! Read more about the day’s outing.
