Day #2138

Day #2138Title: Portrait Of A Photographer
Location: Great Notely
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Strobist: One studio flash from RHS, through softbox. Shadows lightened with silver reflector on LHS.
Notes: We had a studio lighting shoot at GNPC this evening. Portraiture is not something I’m normally very interested in, but every now and then you have to do something out of your comfort zone, so I decided to go along. I managed to persuade fellow Project 365 photographer friend Lawrence to pose in front of a camera  for a change. I wanted to produce a low key image, which suits male portraits much better than the ladies. I also liked how the directional side light had picked out the edges of his camera lens.

Day #2076Title: The Girl At The Crossroads
Location: Shoreditch, London
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Notes: I met up with some friends for GNPC this evening for a street photography shoot around Hoxton and Shoreditch. We met this lady at one of the busy junctions as we were all waiting to cross. She was perfectly at ease in front of the camera. I didn’t catch her name or really get a chance to chat as the lights changed quickly, so she can’t really count for my 100 Strangers project, but she does make an excellent catch for Treasure Hunt Theme #35 – Portrait Of A Stranger.

Day #1976Title: Safety First, Fashion Later
Location: Maker Space, Newcastle
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 50mm EF f/1.4 USM
Notes: We had a busy evening, first meeting friends in the pub for an early feed, then helping to pack up everything in Maker Space to prepare for their move to new, bigger premises in the centre of Newcastle. Alistair donned these “fashionable” safety glasses before taking down some shelving. I’ve had a fiddle with cross processing to give it a slightly different feel.

Location: BBC Television Centre
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: The MCX Engineering team celebrate the last ever live transmission contribution from Television Centre for the Local Election programme today. Here you can see Rob, Peter, Paul, Marcus, Matt and me after TX had finished, with a little bit of fizz to say goodbye to the place.
