Day #2177

Day #2177Title: The Barn
Location: Great Notley
Camera: Canon EOS 100D / 18-55mm EF f/3.5-5.6 IS STM
Notes: Today I visited this lovely Essex barn which is in the process of being renovated and turned into a new arts centre, gallery and workshop space in Great Notley. I went with a couple of friends from GNPC to chat to Ruth, the lady who runs the project, about future photographic collaborations for 2014. The barn isn’t quite finished yet, but the opening date is set for early in the new year. All exciting stuff! And it had to be my picture of the day for today.

Day #2123Title: Two Conkers On A Bench
Location: Norsey Wood, Billericay
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: I visited another local woodland this afternoon in search of more autumnal subjects. I happened across these two shiny conkers on a bench, they must have been where they fell. I loved their contrasting colour with the the green and brown of the wood.

Day #2097Title: Mansion Detail
Location: Bletchley Park, Bedfordshire
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Notes: This is a detail from the main Mansion house at Bletchley Park, found during my visit there for the two-day Over The Air conference. It was a great event again this year. I made a Paper Enigma Machine from a tube of Pringles, enjoyed a private tour of the National Museum of Computing and was giving one of the Ignite Talks in the evening about my passion for Face Down Tuesday. That went well and raised a few laughs. More of the same tomorrow, no doubt.

Day #2067Title: Awaiting Breakfast
Location: Whitecross Street, London
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: This colourful, sunny table was outside an indepdendent café in Whitecross Street as I walked to work today. It looked very inviting, but sadly I didn’t have time to stop for breakfast.

Day #2012Title: Choir Carvings
Location: Writtle Church, Esssex
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: We went to Writtle this evening with GNPC for a photowalk. The light was pleasant and temperatures warm. The church is not normally open in the evenings but having contacted the Parish Office, they were kind enough to have it available for us to visit. So a few of us made the most of the opportunity. This is a detail of the end of the music rest in the Choir stalls, caught in the evening light.

Day #1927Title: Long Way Down
Location: BBC Television Centre
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: We were back at TVC today to pick up some equipment. This is the view of the central staircase of the South Hall. I’ve taken it from below last year, but thought I’d do one from the 7th floor this time. It makes a perfect fit for Treasure Hunt Theme #24 – View From Above.

Day #1873 Title: Seaside Colours
Location: Whitstable, Kent
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: We had a bit of sunshine today so I went to Whitstable for the day with Julian. There were many appealing beach huts to photograph (amongst other things) but this one was my favourite from the day. See the whole set on Flickr.
