Day #2525Title: Leaf On A Bridge
Location: RHS Hyde Hall, Rettenden
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: A little detail which caught my eye as I was enjoying a sunny walk around the gardens at Hyde Hall today. The bright orange yew leaves were casting a fab little shadow on the old wooden footbridge.

Day #2507Title: Amythist Deceiver
Location: Hanningfield Nature Reserve, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: I spent a great few hours with local Nature photographer Daniel Bridge today. We took a long walk around Hanningfield Nature Reserve looking for fungi to photograph. This little treat was nearly overlooked but we spotted it on our way back to the car after having some tea and cake at the café.

Day #2497Title: Alstromeria Burst
Location: Swan Wood
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Strobist: Yongnuo YN-14EX Macro Ring Flash from below through opaque perspex, each side @ 1/32
Notes: Another image in the Microfleur series. I think these are Alstromeria blooms, which I picked from my parents’ garden a few weeks ago, photographed today. The texture behind is from a walk across the Erskine Bridge in September.

Day #2477Title: Fading Passion
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Strobist: Yongnuo YN-14EX Macro Ring Flash from above, each side @ 1/8
Notes: Something a bit more creative today. A few weeks ago, after our excellent Macro workshop at GNPC with John Humphreys, I bought a Microfleur for Microwave drying and pressing flowers. Today I finally got the chance to use it in anger – my garden doesn’t have many flowers in it at this time of year, but I found a solitary Passion Flower clinging onto the arch above my gate and thought it would make a good sacrifice for the sake of art. Having photographed it on textured paper with the macro ring flash, I then added another texture in post production, from an image which I took in August for that very purpose. I’m really pleased with how it’s all worked out. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #32 – Dried Out.
