Day #2548Title: Christmas ICM
Location: Wivenhoe Quay

Day #2543Title: Le Chat Rouge
Location: Paper Mill Lock, Little Baddow
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 50mm EF f/1.4 USM
Notes: A quick wander along the canal at Paper Mill Lock this lunchtime (followed by a delicious toastie in the café) provided today’s image – a lovely curvy cat on the side of one of the canal boats.

Day #2505Title: Little Red Vespa
Location: High Street, Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 100D / 18-135mm EF-S f3.5-5.6 IS STM
Notes: I took a wander around Chelmsford High Street this afternoon. The Shire Hall is a local landmark which has been shrouded in scaffolding for months, but it appears to have begun to emerge from its facelift. This little red Vespa was parked opposite – and reflected the architecture rrather well.

Day #2497Title: Alstromeria Burst
Location: Swan Wood
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Strobist: Yongnuo YN-14EX Macro Ring Flash from below through opaque perspex, each side @ 1/32
Notes: Another image in the Microfleur series. I think these are Alstromeria blooms, which I picked from my parents’ garden a few weeks ago, photographed today. The texture behind is from a walk across the Erskine Bridge in September.

Day #2481Title: Blood Swept Lands
Location: The Tower Of London
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After another meeting in London today, I decided to go to the Tower of London to see the poppy installation, Blood Swept Lands And Seas Of Red, which is growing in the moat. As it turned out, I just missed HM The Queen’s visit by a few minutes! (I had no idea she was going on the same day as me). Oh well. the poppies looked magnificent enough. I chose this detail from the huge swathe in the western side of the moat as today’s image.

Day #2479Title: Fuchsia Impression
Location: Wivenhoe, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 100D / 40mm EF f/2.8 STM
Notes: After my first Microfleur adventure a couple of days ago, I realised that I need more flowers to press. Today I visited Mum & Dad who always have lots of different blooms in their garden. They were happy for me to go round and harvest a few interesting specimens. I took the Microfleur with me as it’s best to process the flowers as soon after they are picked as possible, and I would not have time to do anything with them until tomorrow otherwise. These three Fuchsias had just come out of the press – I loved the way they happen to have arranged themselves on the internal cotton liner – already stained with previous flowers’ presence.
