Day #2841Title: Skeletal
Location: Fairstead, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I was walking a section of The Essex Way between Terling and White Notley today. I spotted this little tableau in Fairstead – it was the contrasts between the skeletal plant shapes and the brick wall which caught my eye, just as found.

Day #2817Title: New Patients Not Welcome
Location: Wicklow Street, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: I went to London today to meet up with a friend who was speaking at an evening tech event. We had some time to kill beforehand so we went for a wander around. This is the back of one of the Hospitals near King’s Cross – obviously new patients are no longer welcome, since their dedicated entrance has been bricked up!

Location: Halstead, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Late evening sunshine provided the lift that this little architectural detail required.

Day #2787Title: Copt Hall
Location: Stock, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: The village of Stock, just south of Chelmsford, has many fine old buildings. I have passed through the High Street several times over the last couple of weeks and the owners of this property have had the decorators in repainting the front windows. It looks like the job is now finished, and the place looks rather spick and span. It is Copt Hall, a Grade II listed building, built in the 18th Century.

Day #2762Title: Urban Hieroglyph
Location: Billericay, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: A detail from some graffiti I found on a path I had never used before in Billericay. Urban hieroglyphs…

Day #2760Title: Prohibition
Location: Sandford Mill Lock, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Another visit to Sandford Mill Lock this afternoon. I have photographed this notice a few times before in different ways, but I’m still surprised that anyone needs to be told not to swim in the algae-ridden canal. It’s pea-green soup!

Day #2727Title: The Crooked Door
Location: Beeleigh Abbey, Maldon
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes:  I have been meaning to visit Beeleigh Abbey’s Open Day to look around the garden for ages. Today was finally the day. I spent an enjoyable hour or so wandering around the grounds, then having tea and cake from the refreshment marquee. The original Abbey was constructed in 1180 and gained its Royal Charter in 1189 from Richard I. It has had a fascinating history since then, even being used as a pub for a short time! It is now a private residence which was once owned by William Foyle, proprieter of the famous London bookshop. The shield from the Royal coat of arms can still be seen above this wonky old door.
