Day #2921

Day #2921Title: Breaking And Entering
Location: Copdock, Suffolk
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: This afternoon Alistair and I headed off to Suffolk to find a complicated 5-stage puzzle cache. Each stage was a tricky field puzzle to get the co-ordinates to the next, this is Alistair looking a bit smug at the final hide. We were pleased to have worked it all out before the rain started!

Day #2879Title: Little Boxes
Location: Broomfield, Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: I was out on another geocache hunt today, this time the sun came out for a bit – most welcome. It happened to be shining as I was passing this new development of houses just to the south of Broomfield. They are pleasant enough, but like man modern estates, they seem to be crammed in, cheek-by-jowl. How does the song go?

There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
They’re all made out of ticky-tacky,
And they all look just the same.

It would seem, I’m just missing a green one here!

Day #2853Title: A Dozen
Location: Wickham Bishops, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: More Autumnal flavour today, these leaves were  on the path of an old railway line in Wickham Bishops where I was out looking for a few caches.

Day #2834Title: The View From Coombe Hill
Location: Wendover, Buckinghamshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I went on a little adventure to visit some very old geocaches today. There’s a nice cluster around the Buckinghamshire/Hertfordshire border. Coombe Hill has a lovely view and is the resting place for the oldest active geocache in England, which has been there since January 2001. It was a very pleasant spot to stay and have my picnic lunch too. All went well until the evening, when I was about to set off for home – my car decided it didn’t want to start and I had to wait nearly 4 hours for a tow truck to get me going again. Grrrr.

Day #2814Title: Rainy Day In Queen Square
Location: Bloomsbury, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: I had to go to London today to pick up some darkroom chemicals from West End Cameras on Tottenham Court Road. The folks in there were very friendly and knowledgeable, and were a great help. The place is a shrine to all things old school – they had a whole wall full of film to choose from! I had some time to kill so I decided to walk from Liverpool Street to TCR and back – in the end I did about 9.5 miles, half of them lugging nearly 4Kg of liquid around with me! I also found a few geocaches along my route. One was in Queen Square, a fine Georgian location with lovely wrought iron railings and historic architecture. It was raining at the time, but I still made the most of any photographic opportunities.

Day #2812Title: Geo-Friends
Location: Chappel & Wakes Colne, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I enjoyed a meetup with some geocaching friends at lunch time today – just for a quick half hour chat. Some of them dispersed to visit the local beer festival. I was good and did a 10.5 mile walk around the area collecting lots of solved puzzle geocaches and having my own little adventures finding some more challenging hides. It was also great to see John at the meetup (in the front, with the Zimmer frame). Just a month ago, shortly after he had finished organising the huge geocaching festival we had in Essex with the other committee members, he had a serious accident. He was extremely lucky – it could have been so much worse. He seems to be making amazing progress and refuses to be confined to bed but is up and pottering about where he can. An inspiration to us all! He is expected to make a full recovery – something which looked anything but certain when we first heard the news of his accident.

Day #2809Title: On The Bridleway
Location: Near Pleshey, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: There was some lovely warm sunlight on the footpaths and bridleways around Pleshey this evening. These hoof prints and tyre tracks threw some great little shadows to contrast the sunset rays.
